Blending the storytelling heart of folk with the grit of modern country, Austin Mackay is fast becoming one of Australia’s most compelling new voices. Born and raised on the East Coast, his music reflects a life on the move, balancing raw emotion, honest songwriting and a deep connection to the people and places that have shaped him. Influenced by Chris Stapleton, John Mayer and Gregory Alan Isakov, Austin delivers songs that feel grounded, human, and unmistakably his own. From coastal bars to major festival stages including Byron Bay Bluesfest, Howlin’ Country, Savannah in the Round, Gympie Music Muster, BIGSOUND, and CMA Fest in Nashville, Austin’s rise has been remarkable. He’s supported Max McNown, Jackson Dean, Morgan Evans, Brad Cox, and The Dreggs, while headlining sold-out shows across Australia and New Zealand and steadily building a passionate, ever-expanding audience. 2025 marked a breakout moment. Austin joined Max McNown on both his Australia/NZ and U.S. tours, marking his debut on American stages and setting up his own U.S. headline shows and festival appearances in 2026. Back home, he also wrapped an Australia/NZ tour with Jackson Dean and completed his own national metro run in celebration of his fan-favourite single, 'The Wheel.' With millions of streams and heartfelt songs including 'Time to Learn,' 'All My Friends,' 'I Made The Bed,' and 'Pretty Little Thing Called Jane,' Austin continues to carve a sound that is as grounded as it is ambitious: speaking to the working class, the restless, and the romantic. Now preparing new releases, more studio work, and a huge touring year ahead, Austin Mackay is redefining what contemporary country can look like, one honest song at a time.
