Updated December 2025 Arath Herce es un cantautor y productor mexicano originario de Veracruz. Su propuesta musical se caracteriza por elementos del folk y del indie pop/rock, con letras profundamente autobiográficas. Comenzó a escribir canciones a los ocho años, después de que su madre le explicara la estructura de los poemas, un hábito que posteriormente se transformó en el análisis de las letras de canciones. A los 15 años, un encuentro fortuito con el cantautor mexicano Leonel García en un restaurante de Veracruz cambió su trayectoria y lo llevó a firmar, años más tarde, con su actual disquera, Sony Music México. En 2021, lanzó su álbum debut, Balboa, coproducido por Herce, Áureo Baqueiro y el británico Jake Gosling y grabado entre Los Ángeles y Londres. Fiel al carácter autobiográfico de su lírica, el álbum aborda temas familiares y la transición del artista a la adultez. El álbum fue lanzado simultáneamente con su versión al desnudo, Balboa Naked, y con un documental del mismo nombre. Tras el lanzamiento de Balboa, Arath experimentó un bloqueo creativo que lo llevó a una pausa en la composición. La pausa forzada por la pandemia de COVID-19 y el disco de Bob Dylan Rough and Rowdy Ways fueron catalizadores de su creatividad, lo que desencadenó nuevas canciones que terminaron formando parte de su segundo álbum de estudio. Como compositor, ha compuesto canciones para Iván Cornejo y Humbe. ABOUT ARATH HERCE Arath Herce is a Mexican singer-songwriter and producer from Veracruz. His sound blends elements of ffolk and indie pop/rock with deeply autobiographical lyrics. He began writing songs at age eight, after his mother explained the structure of poetry to him—a practice that later evolved into analyzing song lyrics together. At 15, a chance encounter with Mexican singer-songwriter Leonel García at a restaurant in Veracruz changed his trajectory and led him to sign, years later, with his current label, Sony Music México. In 2021, he released his debut album, Balboa, co-produced by Herce, Áureo Baqueiro and British producer Jake Gosling, and recorded between Los Angeles and London. True to the autobiographical nature of his lyrics, the album explores family themes and the artist’s transition into adulthood. The album was released simultaneously with its acoustic version, Balboa Naked, and a documentary of the same name. Following the release of Balboa, Arath experienced writer’s block that led to a pause in his songwriting. The forced pause imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and Bob Dylan’s album Rough and Rowdy Ways served as catalysts for his creativity, sparking new songs that eventually became part of his sophomore LP. In 2024, Rolling Stone en Español included Herce on their Future of Music list, which highlights the most promising voices in contemporary music. In October 2025, he released Musas en Mi, a 16-track effort exploring creative block and reconnection, co-produced by the Mexican artist and Canadian singer-songwriter Leif Vollebekk. The album was recorded entirely in Los Angeles with high-caliber musicians, including Jim Keltner (drummer for John Lennon), Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan'sbassist), and Chris Elliott (string arranger for Amy Winehouse and Adele). The mixing was handled by Tchad Blake (Arctic Monkeys and Tom Waits). The album was recognized by Rolling Stone en Español on its list of the 50 Greatest Albums of 2025, ranking 11th. NPR’s Alt. Latino included the LP on their list of the eight best albums of the year. Herce’s talent has been endorsed by some of the biggest names in Spanish-language music, including Alejandro Sanz, Jorge Drexler, Natalia Lafourcade, and Leonel García.
