About ASKA
ASKA, the Texas based heavy metal band, has done it all. In 1992 they began touring the world performing at military bases, embassies and installations around the globe for the U.S. Dept. of Defense/USO entertainment services. For eight years the group maintained a steady course playing for U.S & foreign military troops in well over 56 countries worldwide before turning their focus to the civilian world. There they promptly played festivals around America and Europe and furthered their exposure in no small way. During this course, ASKA released six full length albums on a number of both national and international labels (see included photo discography). During this process, group frontman and vocalist/guitarist George Call came to the attention of US underground metal gods, Omen, where he was promptly recruited to take over the lead vocalist slot for three years while still performing with ASKA. When that association dissolved, George was immediately snagged up by former Atlantic Records/Metal Blade, MTV veterans, Banshee, where he's been front and center on the band's two newest top notch releases. Also in the interim, after a fateful meeting at a festival performance with ASKA in Germany, Call, bounding with an apparent endless energy for this music, was also enlisted to join U.K. legendary, NWOBHM band, Cloven Hoof, where he's released three critically acclaimed, fan-favorite albums, to date. In similar fashion, ASKA bassist/vocalist, Keith Knight, was sought for his skills behind the recording desk and went on to record his bandmate, George, with every one of the band's he moonlighted with. Additionally, Knight has engineered and produced Dallas/Ft. Worth area notable bands at his personal Knight Recording studio facilities. With their seventh album complete and near ready for release, ASKA - a veritable institution now in the world of underground metal - seek to continue their ascent and re-cement the paths and roadways that were suddenly halted during the global pandemic. By all early accounts, their forthcoming record, "Knight Strike" is poised to be the group's absolute finest moment.
