Luis Alberto Cuevas Olmedo (Santiago, September 12, 1967) is the former lead singer of the now-defunct Chilean rock band, La Ley. He grew up in Montréal, Quebec, and is fluent in French, English, and Spanish. He was Born in Santiago, Chile, and now resides in Los Angeles, California and is pursuing a solo career. Beto Cuevas is a singer, songwriter, and producer who rose to international fame as the lead vocalist of La Ley, one of the most influential bands in Spanish-language rock. With over three decades of experience in the music industry, Cuevas has made an indelible mark, both with La Ley and in his successful solo career. As the frontman of La Ley, Beto led the band through the release of iconic albums such as Invisible (1995), Vértigo (1998), and Uno (2000), establishing the group as a cornerstone of the Latin rock scene. Throughout his career with La Ley, the band received numerous awards, including: • Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album for Uno (2001). • Latin Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Album by a Duo or Group for Libertad (2004). • Latin Grammy for Best Pop Rock Album for Retour (2014). • MTV Video Music Awards Latin America for Best Group (2002 and 2003). One of the most iconic moments in his career was the release of La Ley’s MTV Unplugged in 2001, which became a milestone in Latin music. This acoustic album redefined their sound and remains one of the most celebrated Unplugged sessions in the history of Latin rock, solidifying La Ley’s status as genre-defining artists. In 2008, Beto embarked on a successful solo career with the album Miedo Escénico, followed by Transformación (2012), which included the hit single “Quiero creer” (featuring Flo Rida). As a solo artist, Beto also earned a Latin Grammy for Best Pop/Rock Album in 2013, further affirming his artistic relevance beyond his work with La Ley. This December 2024, in a parallel to the success of La Ley’s Unplugged, Beto Cuevas will release his own Unplugged album, offering acoustic reinterpretations of his greatest hits in an intimate format. This release will set the stage for an extensive Latin American and North American tour in 2025, reaffirming his status as one of the most influential figures in Spanish-language rock. Beto Cuevas remains a key figure in Latin American music, seamlessly blending his legacy with a contemporary artistic vision, and continually evolving as a creative force.
