Big Thief's fifth album, Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, is out now on 4AD. Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You is a sprawling double-LP exploring the deepest elements and possibilities of Big Thief. To truly dig into all that the music of Adrianne Lenker, Max Oleartchik, Buck Meek, and James Krivchenia desired in 2020, the band decided to write and record a rambling account of growth as individuals, musicians, and chosen family over 4 distinct recording sessions. In Upstate New York, Topanga Canyon, The Rocky Mountains, and Tucson, Arizona, Big Thief spent 5 months in creation and came out with 45 completed songs. The most resonant of this material was edited down into the 20 tracks that make up DNWMIBIY, a fluid and adventurous listen. The album was produced by drummer James Krivchenia who initially pitched the recording concept for DNWMIBIY back in late 2019 with the goal of encapsulating the many different aspects of Adrianne’s songwriting and the band onto a single record. “One of the things that bonds us together as a band is pure magic," says Adrianne. "I think we all have the same guide and none of us have ever spoken what it is because we couldn’t name it, but somehow, we are all going for the same thing, and when we hit it... we all know it’s it, but none of us to this day, or maybe ever, will be able to articulate in words what the 'it' is. Something about it is magic to me.”

Fantastic set by one of the best bands on the planet. So inventive, such a unique blend of free-flowing and tight sound. The new album ("Dragon") is great and it was well represented in the set list along with some previous favorites. ("Not" and "Shark Smile" should be on every BT set list, forever.) The venue is good for a decent crowd of dedicated fans.
The Studio at the Factory Dallas, TXBig Thief never disappoints. Every time I see them, they sound even better than they do on their albums (which is really frickin good). Their high energy is contagious, the lighting design is flawless, and their spirit is one to be envied. I should've arrived earlier for a closer view, but 10/10 will see again!
Stage AE Pittsburgh, PA5 stars for Big Thief, they were fantastic, but 1 star for the video feed, the steaming was very poor but thankfully audio was still good. Watched the replay and it was much better though! But live, it was quite delayed and very minimal fps despite multiple browser attempts and high speed internet.
Live Stream Live Streamomg. this was probably too 3 concerts i’ve ever been to!!!! i made so many new friends and the music was fantastic!!! i got to the line right after doors opened and i was just a few people behind barricade!!! the openers were fantastic too, i would 100% go again
Library Square Salt Lake City, UTIt was amazing!! Big Thief were very nice to the audience and their performance was awesome. Also, the supporting act Mess Esque were very good too. Only issue was that it was very very loud, so I recommend bringing earplugs (they're also available to get at the theatre).
