A British singer/songwriter who splits the difference between Ed Sheeran's sensitivity, the big-footed stomp of early Mumford & Sons, and a keen moodiness, Barns Courtney received a heavy boost in 2015 when his song "Fire" appeared on the soundtrack to the Bradley Cooper vehicle Burnt. Prior to that break, the singer/songwriter -- born Barnaby George Courtney -- had led a pair of indie bands, SleeperCell and Dive Bella Dive. Courtney then toured as a singer/songwriter, opening for Libertine Carl Barat on a solo jaunt and Ed Sheeran on a North American tour, but he paid the bills by working at PC World. He signed with Virgin, and "Fire" made its way into the production circles of Burnt; it was selected for the soundtrack, with a second single, "Glitter and Gold," appearing around the same time. Before the release of his first full-length album, Courtney issued the Dull Drums EP in early 2017. The album -- titled The Attractions of Youth -- arrived later that fall, produced and engineered with help from former Dive Bella Dive bandmate Sam Bartle. February 2018 saw the release of the single "Sinners," which was co-written with Carl Barat. A pair of songs, "99" and "Good Thing," followed six months later. Courtney returned in May 2019 with the single "You and I," which preceded the September release of his second album, 404.

Barns was nothing short of amazing. His energy and stage presence was unreal. To say that he was made for the stage is an understatement. Absolutely one of the most incredible performers I've seen, and I've been going to concerts since I was 12. The Struts were fun, music was viby. The lead singer was dressed as 80's glam rock, and was a mix of Freddie Mercury and Austin Powers. "Yeah, baby" was definitely his trademark that night. All in all a fun show.
The Complex Salt Lake City, UTBarns was great. Always high energy and great performance. I will say that I was quite disappointed with the festival though. The sets were far too short and the sound at the venue failed the performers badly. The bass drum was far too high and it had so much reverb that it overtook the vocals and guitars. As someone who traveled a long distance tl come, I would recommend to others to choose a different festival to attend next year.

The fun and energy he brought to that stage was the best! What a special gift to be right at the stage, in a small venue with such a talent. Thank you Barns for bringing it- I saw you about 8 years ago in Vegas with your band, but unplugged- this performance was truly memorable.

Und wenn er mit den Fans in der Menge zu fire hüpft, fühlt man sich gleich viel mehr verbunden, als bei anderen Künstlern, die immer einen gewissen Abstand waren. Er hat es einfach geschafft, dass sich ein Acoustic Konzert wie eine echte Rock'n roll Show anfühlt
