Hamon délaisse peu à peu les influences américaines qui l’ont fait rêver enfant pour renouer avec ses racines françaises. Parti au Texas sur les traces de ses idoles, le Parisien d’origine découvre aussi la chanson réaliste française : les mots et les mélodies de Brel, Barbara, Reggiani l’inspirent adroitement. Sans pour autant renier son héritage folk/country, il écrit désormais dans la langue de Molière, comme une évidence.
