Supplier of a diverse scope of dance music styles and master of them all, Bart Claessen has established himself as one of The Netherlands’ most intuitive and musically versatile producers. He’s also pulled off the uniquely tough trick of musical reinvention. It was a little over two decades ago, when Bart’s first single ‘Barthezz - On The Move’ was released, which through a raft of licenses to a network of the world’s most famous dance labels (Positiva, Ultra, Avex and Superstar among them), became one of the biggest crossover dance hits of the year. It notched-up Top 10 national positions in over 10 countries, was nominated for two of Holland’s TMF awards (for Best National Dance Act & Best Video), and propelled Bart right onto the global dance music scene. Next single ‘Infected’ followed. And his DJ career took off, with UK DJ Magazine naming him as one of the DJs expected to explode, bringing Bart to all corners of the globe spinning the proverbial A to Z of club capitals. Ranked among them have been Creamfields, Ministry of Sound, GodsKitchen, Amsterdam Dance Event, ASOT, Innercity, Trance Energy and dozens of others. The mid 00s saw a new musical life under his own name Bart Claessen with a different sound, again scoring chart hits, huge club smashes, and delivering seemingly timeless underground classics like ‘Playmo’, ‘Elf’, ‘Hartseer’, and ‘First Light’, working with labels such as Anjunabeats, Spinnin’ and Armada. He established his own record label and radio show, produced music for tv and movies, as well as remixes for heroes and legends including Above & Beyond, Tiësto, Chocolate Puma, Dannii Minogue, GTA, Cosmic Gate, Meck and Ferry Corsten. Nearly twenty years later, winning a prestigious Buma Award (#3 category National) with a double platinum revitalized version of ‘On The Move’ featuring Lucas & Steve, Barthezz tunes have proven to be earworm classics in their truest form, resulting in a second life for Barthezz DJ sets, on even larger than before festivals, such as Love The Tuentis or Biggest Disco.
