Carmen Rizzo is a two-time Grammy and three-time Juno-nominated artist, producer, mixer, and electronic musician known for his groundbreaking work in electronic and World Music. Renowned for his rich sonic palette and innovative approach to production, he has contributed to albums by iconic artists including Seal, Coldplay, Alanis Morissette, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Paul Oakenfold, A.R. Rahman, Pete Townshend, Michael Jackson, and Dhani Harrison and Anoushka Shankar, and has collaborated with legendary producers such as Trevor Horn, Rob Cavallo, Don Was, and David Foster. As an artist, Carmen releases music under his own name and through numerous collaborations, touring extensively around the world. His recent work includes projects with Dhani Harrison, Huun Huur Tu, New Bulgarian Voices ensemble, an experimental church-organ collaboration with Czech composer and organist Katta, and Didon, a North African–Arab project, which earned him three Juno nominations for Best Global and Best Electronic Album. His side projects—Niyaz (which he co-founded) and Libella—continue to expand his global creative footprint. As a composer, he has scored films for Oscar-winning directors Michael Apted and Stanley Brooks, and wrote the end-title theme for Sony PlayStation’s acclaimed video game Uncharted 2. A long-standing voting member of the Recording Academy, Carmen has served multiple terms as both Trustee and Governor. He co-wrote the Grammy category “Best Electronic Album” and contributed to two Technical Grammy Awards honoring Apple and drum-machine pioneer Roger Linn. Beyond his musical work, Carmen is a sought-after public speaker, having delivered two TEDx talks and led masterclasses worldwide.
