Dan Owen is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, celebrated for his arresting, husky vocals and a sound that fuses blues roots with modern rock, Americana and alternative songwriting. Over more than a decade on the road and in the studio, Owen has built a loyal following across the UK, Europe and beyond with his emotionally honest and unvarnished music. Dan’s musical journey began early: he picked up the guitar at around nine years old and spent his teens performing alongside his sister at open-mic nights and local pubs in and around Shropshire, encouraged by their father. When his sister went to university, Dan continued as a solo performer, gradually developing his distinctive voice and performing style under the early moniker “Bluesboy Dan” — a name that reflected his early affinity for blues greats like Robert Johnson and John Lee Hooker and a style rooted in heartfelt interpretation and raw energy. In 2012 a video of Dan performing Bob Dylan’s “The Ballad of Hollis Brown” went viral online, significantly raising his profile and kick-starting broader interest in his original work. A few years of relentless gigging followed, during which he honed a powerful live presence and began to showcase his own songwriting. By 2015, Dan’s talent had attracted major industry attention, resulting in a deal with Atlantic Records. That year he released his debut EP Bad for Me, followed in 2016 by Open Hands & Enemies. A European tour with Birdy helped expand his reach, and in 2018 he released his first full-length album, Stay Awake with Me, supported by a UK and European tour. Dan has since toured extensively, sharing stages with artists including Kaleo, Alice Merton, Tall Heights, Seafret, multiple tours with Birdy, a full US tour with Blanco White, and support slots for a wide range of acclaimed performers. In 2023, Dan released his second full album The Willow Tree, a collection he describes as his most honest and grounded work yet, featuring contributions from esteemed collaborators like the late songwriter Scott English and Canadian guitarist Ariel Posen. The album showcases his growth as a storyteller and musician, with tracks that range from intimate acoustic moments to expansive, emotionally charged songs. Dan’s creative evolution continues with the forthcoming 2026 album Neptune, which has already begun reaching audiences with standout singles like Black Moon. Written and recorded in his home studio, the new body of work reflects his independent spirit and deeply personal approach to songwriting, maintaining the authenticity that has become his hallmark. A UK tour in 2026 is set to introduce this next chapter of his career to both longtime fans and new listeners alike. From intense pub stages in Shropshire to intimate church venues and major touring circuits, Dan Owen’s journey remains rooted in passion, honesty and unfiltered musical expression — a trajectory that continues to grow with every new song and performance.
