Founded in 2010 in Stuttgart, Germany, Die Selektion has spent over a decade carving out a unique space in the international electronic underground. Combining the hard-hitting energy of Electronic Body Music (EBM) with the gloomy romanticism of Cold Wave and a distinct "poppiness," the band has pioneered a sound they’ve affectionately dubbed "Prosecco Wave." What sets Die Selektion apart is their unconventional instrumentation. The trio—consisting of Luca Gillian (Vocals, Synth), Hannes Rief (Trumpet), and Samuel Savenberg (Synth, Sequencers), fuses driving drum machines and menacing basslines with Hannes Rief’s classically trained trumpet playing. The result is a sonic tension between industrial hardness and neo-classical drama. With a career spanning three acclaimed studio albums—their self-titled debut (2011), Deine Stimme Ist Der Ursprung Jeglicher Gewalt (2017), and the 2023 powerhouse Zeuge aus Licht—the band has solidified their reputation as a formidable live act. Their music, released on influential labels like aufnahme + wiedergabe, Fabrika Records, and Der Katalog, bridges the gap between goth subculture and the techno-heavy avant-garde. Die Selektion is a truly international project.
