Before the Drumsou ndcombined with the Bassline, the first chapters of their story were already written. You see, Simon Bassline Smith had been doing this for years before the team-up with Drumsound. Coming up in the early eighties heyday of rare groove funk and soul, he's been intimately associated with the UK underground music scene as it evolved from soundsystem led blues parties, to raves, festivals, and mainstream acceptance. The Bassline Smith biography stretches through the entire history of hardcore, jungle, and drum 'n' bass. “Drumsound” used to be a collective of six producers, with the torch now being carried by Andy Wright. A classically trained musician with and indie rock background, his musical influences were already wide and varied before he even started making moves in DnB.
