About DIETER MASCHINE BIRR

Dieter „Maschine“ Birr ist nicht nur Sänger und Frontmann der Puhdys, sondern komponierte auch über 300 Titel für die Band. Geboren am 18. März 1944 in Köslin/Pommern, absolvierte er eine Ausbildung als Universalschleifer und lernte zugleich autodidaktisch Gitarre. Von 1966 bis 1972 studierte er Tanzmusik, Theorie und Gitarre an der Musikschule Berlin-Friedrichshain. Er spielte bis 1969 in verschiedenen Bands: Telestar, Luniks, und Jupiters. Seit 1969 schreibt er mit den Puhdys deutsche Musikgeschichte.
