General Levy (Official) Tour Dates and Upcoming Concerts

::::::::::::::::::::::: BIOGRAPHY ::::::::::::::::::::::: After more than 20 years of stage, General Levy will be back with “We Progressive” in Spring 2011! General Levy, real veteran of the UK urban music scene, grew up influenced by reggae music and black culture. Thanks to his older brother, huge music fan, Paul was enabled to build up a consistent musical culture: from ska to rock steady, calypso to soul music, hip-hop to reggae music. Quickly, he went on writing his own lyrics and created his first sound system, “Third Dimension”, along with friends. That's in solo and at the age of 19 that General obtains an international recognition, awarded with several prizes: best reggae album, best single for ‘Heat’, and UK premiere MC. Then his song ‘Incredible’, a world success achieving top ten status in the national mainstream charts, is synchronized in the movies “Ali G Indahouse” and “Seuls Two”. From the Garance Reggae Festival to the Summer Jam and also the Reggae Sun Ska to the Realbeat Reggae Festival, all have been conquered by the extraordinary live talent of the performer. His studio collaborations are not less impressive : Capleton and Sly & Robbie and Danakil and Desmond Dekker. For his new album, General Levy chose to work with several musicians in order to make an eclectic and successful release, between funk, hip hop, jungle and reggae music. “We progressive” counts on the collaboration of original and committed artists such as Balik (Danakil), Big Red (Raggasonic) and Papa Style & Baldas. ::::::::::::::::::::::: BIOGRAPHIE ::::::::::::::::::::::: Après plus de 20 ans de scène, General Levy revient dans les bacs au printemps 2011 avec « We progressive »! General Levy, véritable vétéran de la scène urbaine anglaise, a grandit sous l’influence de la musique reggae et de la culture noire au sens large. C’est grâce à son frère ainé, grand amateur de musique, que Paul s’est forgé une culture musicale solide allant du ska au rock steady, du calypso à la soul, ou encore du hip-hop au reggae. Dès son plus jeune âge il s’intéresse au sound system et va très rapidement former le sien : «Third Dimension ». C’est en solo et du haut de ses 19 ans qu’il acquiert une reconnaissance internationale puisqu’il se voit récompenser de plusieurs Awards (meilleur album reggae, ‘Heat’ meilleur single et meilleur MC). Par la suite son titre ‘Incredible’, succès mondial classé dans le top 10 des charts, est synchronisé dans les films « Ali G Indahouse » et « Seuls Two ». Du Garance Reggae Festival au Summer Jam en passant par le Reggae Sun Ska ou le Realbeat Reggae Festival, tous ont été conquis par les prestations de ce « performer » hors norme. Les collaborations studio de General Levy ne sont pas en reste : Capleton, Sly & Robbie, Danakil ou Desmond Dekker. Pour ce nouvel opus General Levy a choisi de s’entourer de plusieurs musiciens afin de produire une œuvre éclectique et aboutie, oscillant entre funk, hip hop, jungle et reggae-roots.
