Perhaps in vain, perhaps not. Hannes Aitman is one of the songwriters still searching for something genuine in an age that rushes headlong into quick decisions, status worship, and greed. His artistry unfolds through music as well as paintings and literary works yet to see the light of day. The dark, velvety voice carried by magnificently resonant melodies weaves a blanket of artistic aesthetic. Thoughtful lyrics paint vivid inner landscapes, moving between forgiveness, social critique, and themes that at some point touch every human being, but yet so often remain just beyond the reach of words. With the debut album Weak Point, Hannes Aitman and his band gave birth to something long absent from the music world: integrity. Something real. Something live. Something dreamlike. Perhaps it is precisely Aitman’s refusal to yield to commerce and the industry’s rigid whispers that has led him (after two years) to walk his own path.
