Formed in the North Hollywood Arts District in 1997, Helen 55 quickly became a fixture on the Sunset Strip, sharing stages at The Whisky a Go-Go and The Roxy Theatre with bands like System of a Down and Papa Roach. Their 1998 three-song cassette release featured the standout track, “Dumb Summer,” which rapidly gained a global following through early internet tape trading. Their profile grew with the 2000 self-released CD, Amped, and features on MTV and Farmclub TV, cementing their status as an essential "buzz band." After a hiatus, the band reunited in 2010 and released two subsequent albums, Helen 55 (2010) and SLEEP | DEATH (2021). In a remarkable resurgence, Helen 55’s legacy has exploded over the last few years. Thanks to “Dumb Summer” trending on TikTok and heavy rotation on influential Spotify playlists, their fanbase has grown exponentially. The track currently has over 2 million streams on Spotify, proving that the enduring power of Helen 55's music continues to captivate a new generation of listeners.
