Inkubus Sukkubus is a British Pagan Goth/Folk rock band, based in Gloucestershire, with an international following. The subject matter of their music tends to veer towards the dark and supernatural, exploring witchcraft, magick, folklore, death rites and more. The Inkies – as they’ve come to be known – were formed by Candia, Tony and Adam in the summer of 1989, and have been releasing albums and touring ever since. To date, they’ve brought out 27 studio albums and performed live in Mexico, USA, Australia, Russia, Turkey, Scandinavia, UK and most of Europe; they have also appeared on national terrestrial television in the UK, Greece, Germany and Finland. In 2019, they celebrated their 30th Anniversary with a series of live concerts and the release of a new album, Lilith Rising. In 2020, Candia and Tony McKormack published a book and CD based on their Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder trilogy, taking a deeper look at the meaning of some of their songs and the folklore that inspired them. Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder – The folklore, myths and magic of Gloucestershire, the Cotswolds and beyond: Exploring the lyrics of Inkubus Sukkubus (ISBN 978-1-5136-6580-1) is available direct from the band for £15 (+P&P) for book and 13-track CD. Spring 2021 saw the release of their 26th studio release, The Way of the Witch, and a series of live dates, including a return to Castle Party at Bolków Castle. In 2022 Inkubus Sukkubus were back writing and gigging, playing dates in Poland and the UK, including a 25th Anniversary event at Whitby, and a special Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder fundraiser for the Tudor buildings of The Folk of Gloucester, which included talks, living history, dance, ritual, cinema, and music. On Midsummer 2023 the band released their 27th studio album, She of a Thousand Names, brought out in conjunction with a PC game of the same name, devised and created by Tony. 2024 saw them celebrating 35 years of continuous writing and performing, as well as the 30th Anniversary of the celebrated Wytches album. The band celebrated with a series of special events – including in Mexico and Italy– as well as a limited new-format release of Wytches; and a boxed wooden USB collection of their vampire-inspired material, complete with atmospheric computer game designed specially for the release by Tony. In 2025, the band were out playing live again – including gigs in Italy, Switzerland and Poland – as well as working on their next album, due for release spring 2026. They also hosted a series of Tales of Witchcraft & Wonder events – in Cornwall, Devon, and on home turf in Gloucestershire – and were invited to close Gloucester History Festival in September by playing a live semi-acoustic set in the historic setting of Blackfriars Priory, with Candia being interviewed by Professor Janina Ramirez on the history and practice of witchcraft in the county. This year, Inkubus Sukkubus are releasing their 28th studio album – entitled Eternal Monsters – and will be doing a series of gigs to promote and celebrate 37 years of making witchcraft and wonder!
