Founded by frontman George Ruiz just after high school in 2012, The Irie began as a vision rooted in passion, resilience, and a love for music. By 2014, George took that vision to Hawaii, where he spent four years shaping and refining a signature sound—blending island vibes, pop, alternative, reggae, and soul into what would become the unmistakable Irie sound. After returning to the mainland, George was driven to continue his musical path, eventually crossing paths with bassist Marcus Mapes, a Mesa native known for his work with the band Good Rust. With Marcus bringing his own style and energy into the mix, the connection was instant. Together, they are building The Irie into more than just a band—it’s a movement. Rooted in positivity, connection, and real-life experiences, their music spreads light to everyone they encounter. The journey continues as they carry the Irie vibes forward—living the full send life and bringing their sound to the world.
