About Jonathan Kane
Jonathan Kane is a drummer, guitarist, and composer best known for his work in the NYC downtown music scene. His drumming style is characterized by a powerful and hypnotic presence, deep musicality and the ability to surprise and awe audiences. Since 2024, Jonathan Kane has been a member and drummer of the trio DOOM DOGS, performing "genre-free" improvisations with Reeves Gabrels (The Cure, David Bowie) on guitars and Jair-Rohm Parker Wells (Machine Gun, Embryo) on basses.
Kane was a founding member of the influential band Swans, worked extensively with Minimalist godfather La Monte Young, and was the only drummer for Rhys Chatham's orchestra of 100 electric guitars. More recently, Kane has led his own trance-blues band Jonathan Kane's February.
