Während andere Bands mit dem Einsetzen des Erfolgs oft in eine Art Schockstarreverfallen, die es ihnen schwer macht, sich künstlerisch weiterzuentwickeln, strebt die süddeutsche Post-Hardcore-Kombo regelrecht nach Veränderung. Auch nach über einem Jahrzehnt Band-Geschichte stoßen MARATHONMANN neue Türen auf. „Wir wollen mit neuen Bands auftreten, neue Festivals spielen und die Fühler noch weiter ausstrecken“ erklärt Gitarrist Bastian Scholl die Motivation der Band. „Genauso wollen wir aber auch die alten Fans mitnehmen auf das neue MARATHONMANN-Abenteuer und Ihnen unsere Interpretation der 80er zeigen. MARATHONMANN haben bislang zwei EPs, vier Studio-Alben sowie ein Live-Album veröffentlicht, wovon vier in die offiziellen deutschen Albumcharts eingestiegen sind. Zuletzt feierten die Münchner mit „Die Angst sitzt neben dir“ (Chartposition #41, 2019) und dem Unplugged-Album „Alles auf Null“ (Chartposition #26, 2021), beide erschienen bei Redfield Records, ihre bisher größten Erfolge. Mit ihrem letzten Album „Maniac“ trauten sie sich komplett raus aus der Komfort-Zone und zeigen ihre Liebe für die 80er in Form einer Synthie-Rock Platte. 2025 Wieder alles DIY und zurück zum Old-School Gefühl der Anfangstage.
