Meniscus are an instrumental post-rock band based in Sydney, Australia. The group consists of guitarist Daniel Oreskovic, bassist Alison Kerjean, drummer Cameron Brennan, and visual artist Martin Wong. They have been compared to artists such as Mogwai, Sigur Ros, ISIS and Cog. Described by the press as “forward-thinking” (The Drum Media), and “epic, symphonic and melodic” (Triple J), Meniscus seamlessly blend together elements of Guitar-driven ambient soundscapes, hard-rock, electronic and psychedelic music. Originally starting out as a three-piece in 2005, Meniscus have since expanded their live show to include video projections, mixed live by Martin Wong, and have released two records: Absence of I EP (2007) and War of Currents (2011). Both records have been well received by both fans and the media alike, the latter describing War of Currents as “a multi-layered and staggeringly moving collection of songs” (The Drum Media) Meniscus have played shows all over Australia and Europe. In 2012 alone, Meniscus played shows with the likes of Dead Letter Circus, Fair to Midland, Floating Me, Laura and sleepmakeswaves, before heading to Europe in July to tour across 9 countries including shows with Rosetta (USA), and a spot on Germany’s Fusion festival. The year was capped off in style by playing an evening set at Peats Ridge Festival (NSW) over the new-year weekend. This year (2014) Meniscus have toured nationally with Caspian (USA) and head into the studio to record new material, as well as create new visual elements in their live show. In mid-2014 Cameron Brennan left the band and Alex O’Toole stepped in to take his position as drummer. Meniscus are an instrumental post-rock band from Sydney, Australia since 2005.
