Nikos Portokaloglou is one of the major artists in Greece for the last 45 years. Songwriter, singer, guitarist and producer. In 1980 he created the Band "Fatme" and their first record was released in 1982. After 6 influential and successful albums, and a great number of concerts in Greece and Cyprus, the group disbanded in 1989 and Nikos followed a solo career. During his artistic course, he made numerous collaborations with great singers and songwriters that performed some of his songs. Among them, Haris Alexiou, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Dyonissis Savopoulos , Alkistis Protopsalti, Dimitris Mitropanos, Eleni Vitali, Giannis Kotsiras, Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Natassa Bofiliou, Giannis Haroulis and others. Nikos Portokaloglou has released 14 solo albums. He made thousands of live performances, numerous great hits and sold out concerts. In 2020, for the first time in his career, Nikos Portokaloglou created and presented a TV show called "Music Box" in the Greek National Television (ERT). The idea was to invite songwriters , singers and musicians, from different styles of music, to work together in a creative and innovative way. Over 300 Greek and international artists participated in the show. Among them, Maria Farantouri, Giorgos Ntalaras, Vassilis Papakonstantinou, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Savvina Giannatou, Eric Burdon, Yasmin Levy, Ara Dinkjian, Kadebostany, Shantel and many others. “Music box” lasted 4 years, released 120 episodes and was the most successful TV music show in Greece. In 2022 he celebrated his 40 years in music with 2 sold out concerts at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. During the years 2023-2025, Nikos Portokaloglou, performed his songs using different approaches of arrangement, with symphony orchestras, string quartets, traditional soloists and choirs at the Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls (Megaron Moussikis). In October 2025 is expected the release of his new album “Anamessa” (In between), consisting mainly of duets with some of his favourite singers.
