Parov Stelar also studied art and design in his hometown Linz and in Berlin. He started painting even before he became a musician and a producer. Parov Stelar approaches painting as an impulsive reaction, often embracing chance during the digital design phase. The initial computer montages guide the layout or design that he transfers to the canvas, where he skillfully transforms them using traditional oil painting techniques. According to the artist, the painting process often leads to complete transformations of the image. When the painting gazes back at him and he contemplates it, he knows it is complete. Parov Stelar sees painting as a counterbalance to music, providing a tactile contrast to the digital realm.
