First introduced by a mutual friend, vocalist Coco O., and multi-instrumentalist/producer Robin Hannibal had immediate chemistry. “As soon as I met her I knew she was special.” Robin says of their first encounter. “She could sing the phonebook and make it sound good.” Dubbing themselves Quadron, as a respectful nod to both of their heritages as being ¼ Black, the two began making waves across various taste-making blogs. It was only a matter of time before the Danish duo was picked up by Los Angeles –based Plug Research Music and introduced to the stateside audience. The Motown-inspired "Slippin'" quickly made Coco a darling among music critics. Soon to follow, Quadron found themselves on the soundtrack for the Oscar-Award nominated film The Kids are Alright, as well as multiple TV placements including Grey’s Anatomy. In 2009, just a few months after Quadron began issuing their music, renowned BBC DJ Gilles Peterson found himself enamored by the sensuous track "Day", and included the song in his highly anticipated year-end special of Worldwide. Also recognizing the tremendous talent of the duo, both New York Magazine, as well as L.A’s well-respected KCRW DJ Anthony Valadez, named their self-titled album as one of the “Top Ten Best” of the year. Most notably, however, has been the tremendous support Quadron’s been given by industry heavy-hitters. Among several others, Prince and Adele have labeled themselves as fans, and Raphael Saadiq invited Quadron to be the opening act for his 2011 tour. While Coco’s inspiration springs from a life well-lived (“leisurely bike rides and good drinks”) she credits Lauryn Hill’s classic Miseducation and Sade’s elegant lyrics as being at the center of her formative music years--“I used to say ‘I grew up on breast milk and Sade’”, Coco quips. Robin’s flair for layering the intricacies of chord progressions, composition, and instrumentation come from his love for musical greats such as Ennio Morricone and Charles Stepney. Together, the two masterfully blend their influences to give way to true artistry. Promising a sophomore album with more up-tempo songs and thoughtful instrumentations, Quadron is excited about sharing the evolution of their sound which includes influences from soul, pop, folk, and even at times electronic. “As we change as humans our music changes with us” Coco says of their in-progress new material. “It’s still Robin and Coco …but even better versions than in 2009.” www.twitter.com/quadronmusic www.quadronmusic.com New album "Avalanche" out now http://smarturl.it/quadronavalanche New single "Hey Love" available on iTunes http://smarturl.it/quadronheylove
