About The Sheepdogs
Few bands capture the past as elegantly as The Sheepdogs. Since forming in 2004, the band from Saskatoon, Canada have fused rock’n’roll, roots and blues with a passion and delight that emanates from their songs – all tied up with harmonies that evoke Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and other ghosts of Laurel Canyon. They’ve won Juno Awards, had multi-platinum album sales, and become Rolling Stone’s first unsigned cover stars. Now, having left the major label world and bought back their masters, they’re doing things exactly on their terms. Paradise Alone, the band’s five-track eighth album, is the first taste of this new chapter, coming out on their own label Right On Records. A masterpiece in miniature, Paradise Alone showcases some of the best music of The Sheepdogs’ career. Produced by frontman Ewan Currie, engineered by Matt Ross-Spang (Rival Sons, Jason Isbell, Margo Price), and recorded at Southern Grooves in Memphis, Tennessee, it mixes the Sheepdogs’ groovy rock instincts with the soulful heritage of their location – infused with a free spirit that reflects their new independence. It’ll ring all the right bells with existing fans, and offer new food for thought.

First time at Doug Fir. Great venue. Smaller than most others in town (like Aladdin, Wonder, etc) but absolutely great look, sound and vibe in the place. And Sheepdogs were amazing. Good to see them after hearing them for the first time here in Portland four years ago. New guitarist Ricky is phenomenal solo, and he also plays the classic Allman Bros style twin guitars with Ewan totally in sync. Whole band was awesome and just the kind of show and music needed. And really enjoyed the opening act (Kid Golden).

It was great to see the Machine Shop full of music fans. No tables or chairs made for a true concert experience. Extra bars were open so waiting for refreshments was never long. It's nice to see the smoking/toking area exit manned by security and with a table to drop your drink. The Sheepdogs played all the hits. Two and sometimes three lead guitars battled and played together all night for a show I have not seen since the Nudge at Castle Farms. Good job ShowPass. More of the same, please.

My hubby and I saw them before the pandemic. Then, we knew they were great (it was a cold outdoor event, I must add). We HAD to see them on this tour, even convinced friends to come with us, and THE BAND WAS UNBELIEVABLE. Every song had us singing along, dancing and rocking out! They have a new guitarist and you’d think he was playing with the Sheepdogs for years! Amazing! Already can’t wait for them to make their return. Terra, the opening act, was also fantastic.

I gotta admit, I thought the Sheepdogs as an opener wasn't going to be good. After seeing them at Midway almost 3 years ago, I figured the huge arena would take away from their intimate show and they would shrink on stage. Glad I was wrong as they pumped up the volume, engaged the crowd and got everyone ready for Bryan. Kudos for the boys from Saskatoon as most openers are usually very forgettable but not tonight.

The Sheepdogs were absolutely amazing, as were Creatures I’m told but we missed them unfortunately. The sound was excellent, surprising considering the amount of instrumentation on the stage. The vocals strayed on occasion but in general the music was 100% and the input 110%. The only downer was a small amount of drunken behaviour from a bunch of yobs during the encore. This was forgotten when we met the band at the back door. 😎
