About Slasher
Holder of an aggressive, elaborated and modern music, SLASHER sums the influences of each member to Thrash Metal, resulting in unique compositions which are not tied up to rules neither limitations of the genre. The lyrics are harsh criticisms to society, religion, politics and psychological conflicts. The band's history began in 2008 in Itapira, Brasil, with the first EP "Broken Faith" being released. This project was produced by Ricardo Piccoli (SHADOWSIDE, HELLISH WAR, KAMALA, etc) at Piccoli Studio in Campinas, Brasil. The EP was highlighted in the issue 131 of the Roadie Crew magazine, considered one of the most important publications of the Heavy Metal genre in their home country. This positive reception and the hard work in communication performed by the group gave them awards in many festivals and cultural contests. The band was selected by representatives from Sony Music, EMI Music, Maquinária and SWU to be in the compilation "Melody Box - Fora da caixa vol.1". They were the only artists of the Rock/Metal genre. As a result of these activities, the band was invited to participate in major events such as the W:O:A Metal Battle, RATOS DE PORÃO, ANGRA and ANDRÉ MATOS. SLASHER also figured in the top 5 highest voted bands from São Paulo state in a survey conducted by Whiplash.net in 2010, one of the biggest websites of the Metal genre in Brasil. On May 13th of 2011, the debut album "PRAY FOR THE DEAD" was released. The mixing and mastering were again at the hands of the Italian Brazilian producer Ricardo Piccoli at his Piccoli Studio. The cover artwork was made by the french artist Stan W Decker, who already worked with TIMMO TOLKKI and labels such as METAL BLADE and FRONTIER RECORDS. Almost 3 years later, the band released the second studio album “KATHARSIS” on February 13th. This record was produced at Antfarm Studio in Aarhus, Denmark by the renowned Tue Madsen, who has previously worked with THE HAUNTED, HATESPHERE, VADER, KATAKLYSM, among others. To illustrate the album’s artwork the group counts again on Stan W Decker’s talent. As letras fazem duras críticas a sociedade, religião, política e conflitos psicológicos.
