About Tokyo Rose
Tokyo Rose is an emo-influenced pop-punk band born from the heart of New Jersey’s vibrant early 2000s alternative scene. Formed in 2001 by Ryan Dominguez and Chris Poulsen, who met playing shows with their former bands, the group quickly carved a name for themselves with their energetic songwriting and relentless hustle.
After recording their debut EP Chasing Fireflies and touring the East Coast while still in college, Tokyo Rose signed with California-based SideCho Records and released their first full-length, Reinventing a Lost Art (2003), recorded by Chris Badami. The album launched the band into national touring, including stops at Skate and Surf Fest, SXSW, CMJ, and the Vans Warped Tour, with tracks featured across MTV shows like Road Rules.
Their 2005 follow-up, New American Saint, produced by Matt Goldman, expanded their sonic palette and took them across the U.S., U.K., and Japan. The single “Spectacle” landed rotation on mtvU, solidifying their place in the era’s emo and alt-rock landscape. In 2007, they returned with The Promise in Compromise (produced by Fred Archambault), which debuted on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart and was supported by a final Warped Tour run before the band dissolved.
Throughout their career, Tokyo Rose has toured internationally and shared the stage with genre icons including Motion City Soundtrack, Good Charlotte, The Starting Line, Yellowcard, Brand New, and The All-American Rejects. Their catalog has appeared on compilations from Hopeless Records, The Militia Group, and the Vans Warped Tour series.
With nearly 20,000 units sold, New American Saint was clearly a fan favorite and now on it’s 20th Anniversary, it’s re-mastered deluxe edition will feature two previously unreleased cuts that never made the original record and is highly anticipated by fans and industry tastemakers alike. PunkNews, New Noise Magazine, Chorus FM, and Idobi Radio have all pledged their support for the re-release of this special anniversary album!
Now embracing a new chapter, Tokyo Rose is reconnecting with their roots and each other, with plans to write, record, and perform again for a generation that never forgot them.
