Copenhagen's Anders Trentemøller has long been respected as a creator of extraordinarily memorable melodies and dark soundscapes. While many artists follow a pattern of invention and reinvention, Trentemøller's arc has been a series of points along the same curve, playing the long game, with each release representing the next chapter in a constantly evolving series. Contrasts and paradoxes are often explored. Other themes may revolve around reminiscence and remembrance, while eschewing nostalgia. His latest untitled full-length makes room for some of the sharpest melodies of his career to date, while taking his love of contrasts and paradoxes to the extreme. Across 10 songs, a journey towards dynamic yet bittersweet frontiers of sound gathers pace, pitting maximalist guitar-noise blowouts against some of the most bruising dream-pop and bittersweet, fuzz-washed shoegaze you'll hear this year. Just a few moments in, and you already know the Danish polymath is once again rewriting his story for a more vibrant, outward-looking chapter of his aesthetic. Since his groundbreaking debut The Last Resort, Trentemøller has toured the world (500+ shows) and released acclaimed albums including Into The Great Wide Yonder, Lost, Fixion, Obverse, Memoria, and Dreamweaver, collaborating with vocalists such as Jehnny Beth, Slowdive's Rachel Goswell, and Low's Mimi Parker. He has remixed over 100 artists including The Cure, Depeche Mode and Thom Yorke, earning a Grammy nomination.
