About Yonder Mountain String Band
Yonder Mountain String Band, a driving force in roots music for nearly three decades and a key player in the progressive jamgrass movement, kicks off a new chapter with "Nowhere Next". Featuring original songs inspired by lived experiences, people, and places that have shaped them, the album is a mix of bluegrass, rock, and country with soulful, funky grooves. Their 11th studio album follows the Grammy-nominated Get Yourself Outside (2022), adding depth and momentum to Yonder’s rich musical legacy. Nowhere Next showcases the musical talents and collaborative writing efforts of founding members Adam Aijala (guitar, vocals), Dave Johnston (banjo, vocals), and Ben Kaufmann (bass, vocals), alongside multi-instrumentalist Nick Piccininni (mandolin, banjo, fiddle, vocals), a five-year veteran whose contributions as a singer and instrumentalist shine throughout the record. Together, they co-wrote nine of the eleven tracks, blending their unique perspectives and vocal ranges to give each song its own distinct character. Coleman Smith (fiddle) makes his studio debut, adding a vibrant layer that complements the band’s overall dynamic.

Great show! Neither of the bands ever disappoint. Lou Reed's "Walk On the Wild Side" cover bluegrass style. Daniel Donato shreds, hell, they all do. Three guys playing the same bass at the same time at once? It happened. Great venue too. Along the Ohio River outside and you can bring your own chairs, food vendor on site, plenty of bar tenders.

The band was amazing!! However, we purchased upgraded seats and when we got there, the only tables/seats left in that balcony/upgraded section were not on the rail which meant that we couldn't see the stage from our seats. Not worth the extra money for those seats. They shouldn't sell upgraded seats without a view of the stage.

It's always a pleasure to see YMSB, and no different this time. With a gentle rain falling they provided an intimate show that was kickin'. A great mix of old and new, with a few covers thrown in, including Rock n Roll by VU, which was awesome.

Haven't been to a show here in ages. Old school small live music venue. Bummer for me it is over an hour away. Of course, YMSB gave an awesome high energy show. Guys, Don't let another 20 years go by before coming back this way. j

First set was smokin. My first two YMSB shows this weekend, but I will definitely be seeing these guys again. Grey Eagle is OK, but low ceilings not so great for acoustics. FYI on coatcheck...you can leave your coat on the floor. Not joking.

Holy crap! They played from 10-12:45 and I was blown away the entire time. Once they started, the energy and intensity only increased as the show continued. Their version of Edgar Winter’s Frankenstein was definitely the highlight of evening!

Enjoyed the show! The Grey Eagle is small and inside it is easy to find a spot to enjoy the music. Limited seating available in the bar area just off the venue if you want to grab a bite.

Yonder came to the Tractor ready to put on a good show and they delivered. They always are well-rehearsed and tight, each player’s leads very good. Second set covers of Stop Making Sense and Whipping Post were great!

First time seeing Yonder Mountain. First concert at the Ardmore Music Hall. Both did not disappoint. Fast bluegrass enthusiastic crowd. Good list of craft beers on tap. What is not to love.

Show was excellent and the opening bands violinist (Handmade Moments) came out to join for a few songs which made it even better. If only they had played half moon rising I would’ve given it 5 stars
