Newcastle singer-songwriter Andrew Cushin has unveiled a formidable new band ahead of the biggest UK headline tour of his career this winter - culminating in another huge hometown show at O2 City Hall Newcastle this December. The fast-rising Geordie star has welcomed drummer David ‘Greenie’ Green and trumpet player Joe Corby, AKA ‘Joe The Blow’ - joining from the indie group Red Rum Club - into his touring band, joining former Catfish and the Bottlemen guitarist Johnny ‘Bondy’ Bond on lead guitar. Joe Corby, better known as Joe The Blow, arrives with considerable live experience following his time with Liverpool indie band Red Rum Club, where his distinctive trumpet playing became a key part of the group’s cinematic, brass-driven sound. During his time with the band, Red Rum Club built a major following on both sides of the Atlantic, releasing a string of acclaimed albums and touring extensively across the UK and United States. Having left the group earlier this year, Joe now begins a new chapter alongside Cushin, with the addition of trumpet set to bring another dimension to the increasingly powerful and expansive sound of Andrew’s new live band. And for North East music fans, the new line-up carries an extra piece of Newcastle history. The tour will mark the first time Greenie and Bondy have played together since their days in Newcastle band Detroit Social Club, bringing two familiar faces from the city’s music scene back onto the same stage - this time alongside one of the North East’s biggest breakthrough artists of recent years. Greenie’s career has also included playing with Little Comets and VANT, alongside work with Adam Ant and on The X Factor UK, while Joe Corby joins the band after recently leaving Liverpool indie favourites Red Rum Club, where his trumpet became a distinctive part of the group’s sound. Together they complete a new-look Andrew Cushin live band currently deep in rehearsals ahead of a tour that promises to take his increasingly anthemic sound to another level. And nowhere will that be felt more than Newcastle. Cushin returns to O2 City Hall Newcastle on Thursday 10 December 2026, marking an incredible fifth headline appearance at the historic venue and another landmark night in a hometown success story which has already seen him become the youngest Geordie artist to sell out the City Hall. Andrew Cushin said: “This is my biggest UK tour to date! That in itself can be a little daunting, but we all can’t wait to get it started. “Bondy and Greenie have played in a band together before and now, with the addition of Joe The Blow on trumpet, I think this band is more than capable of smashing these shows out the park. “To have three Geordies in the band as well and then bring this whole new live show back home to the City Hall is going to be class. Newcastle has been behind me from the start and I know what that room is like when everyone gets going. We cannot wait to get up there and give them a proper show.” The announcement comes during another major year for Cushin, whose rise from Newcastle’s pubs and grassroots venues has taken him to some of the most celebrated stages in the world.
