About Bonnie Bishop

BONNIE BISHOP’S EIGHTH ALBUM, THE WALK PRODUCED BY STEVE JORDAN (ROBERT CRAY, BUDDY GUY) U.S. Release: OCT 4 2019 FORT WORTH, Texas — “I’ve always felt like there was a much higher purpose to my musical message,” says Bonnie Bishop. “I wanted to recapture that connection with this album.” The singer-songwriter’s new album, The Walk, released on October 25, 2019 via Thirty Tigers, furthers the journey of self-discovery she began with her 2016 release Ain’t Who I Was, which drew critical acclaim from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and NPR.  The new set of seven emotionally charged songs, produced by Grammy-winner Steve Jordan (Robert Cray, Jon Mayer, Buddy Guy), connects listeners with the Texas vocal powerhouse in her most honest effort to date. She’s dedicated the lively confessional “to all who wander.” From the album’s torrid opener, “Love Revolution,” to the euphoric closer “Song Don’t Fail Me Now,” The Walk demonstrates a heartfelt testament that music can absolutely heal the spirit. It’s a fearless, funny, insightful Bishop we encounter on a path that found her moving from Nashville back to her native Texas, writing an album that captures a seasoned singer/songwriter rediscovering her passion and musical purpose. It’s a liberating collection of songs she calls her “breakaway.” “The words are from my soul and the music keeps my feet moving,” says Bonnie. “For that I am most grateful.”  Framing each of the album’s songs in one-word definitions (such as PURPOSE for “Love Revolution,” and DOUBT for the moving title track), Bonnie captures life’s contradictions and conflicts with an unblinking, no-holding-back approach. Jordan’s groove-laden production completes the compact she made with herself to flourish outside of her comfort zone. “I always wanted to work with him,” she says. “I knew he was perfect for this project because I knew he would create lively beats that made deeper songs like this connect on an upbeat level, as well. I was taking a journey into the unknown and he was there with me every step of the way.”  Bishop began playing original music in dive bars and honky-tonks across her native Texas after graduating from the University of Texas with a degree in Sociology. She moved to Nashville in 2008, sharpening her songwriting chops with writers Mike Reid, Jimmy Wallace, Al Anderson among others. Her big break came when Bonnie Raitt recorded a song she and Anderson wrote entitled “Not Cause I Wanted To,” helping snag a Grammy for Best Americana Album in 2013. In all, Bishop has recorded eight albums, rising though the country/Americana ranks and receiving various awards for her songwriting. A few years ago she decided to take a hiatus from the stress of the music business and enrolled in Sewanee University of the South, where she is currently working toward a master’s degree in creative writing.  In 2016, Thirty Tigers convinced her to record a new album with producer David Cobb, the universally acclaimed Ain’t Who I Was, which brought her back with a splash and showcased the more soulful side of the dynamic singer. Bonnie also dedicates herself to a cause that “walks the walk” when it comes to turning music into redemptive, life-changing transformation for others, and calls her work with Songwriting With Soldiers the most fulfilling part of her life as a songwriter. This non-profit organization pairs professional songwriters with veterans and active duty military, using collaborative songwriting to build creativity, connections, and strengths. Bonnie recently performed some of the songs she has written with veterans as part of a Songwriting With Soldiers PBS concert at Nashville’s War Memorial Auditorium, which aired this Fall and continues to run on U.S. public access. Track List: Love Revolution (written by Bonnie Bishop and Gabe Dixon)  Keep On Movin (written by Bonnie Bishop and Gabe Dixon)  The Walk (written by Bonnie Bishop and Emery Dobyns)  Every Happiness Under The Sun (written by Bonnie Bishop and Rebecca Lynn Howard)  I Don’t Like To Be Alone (written by Bonnie Bishop)  Women At The Well (written by Bonnie Bishop and Rebecca Lynn Howard)  Song Don’t Fail Me Now (written by Bonnie Bishop and Gabe Dixon)  Follow Bonnie Bishop here: Offiicial Website: www.bonniebishop.com Twitter: www.twitter.com/bonniebishop Instagram: www.instagram.com/bonniebishopforrockstar YouTube: www.youtube.com/BonnieBishopOfficial
