About The Black Angels
Wilderness of Mirrors expertly refines the Black Angels’ psychedelic rock attack alongside a host of intriguing sounds and textures. Mellotron, strings and other keyboards are more prominent than ever before. The Black Angels – Alex Maas (vocalist/bassist), Christian Bland (guitarist), Stephanie Bailey (drummer), Jake Garcia (guitarist), Ramiro Verdooren (multi-instrumentalist) – co-produced the record, working closely with Brett Orrison (co-producer) and Dinosaur Jr engineer John Agnello to achieve something fresh and new while retaining their heavily influential classic sound. Since forming in 2004 in Austin, TX, the Black Angels remain masterfully true to psych-rock forebears such as Syd Barrett, Roky Erickson, Arthur Lee and the members of the Velvet Underground, all of whom are namechecked on “The River.” The band's global influence is solidified by their beloved, long-running Levitation Festival, the veritable ground zero for the genre’s past, present and future -- celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. Following the acclaimed Death Song LP (2017), Wilderness of Mirrors is their latest full-length release on Partisan Records.

Crazy good, loved the opening band! Loved these guys too. I'm sure the volume could go even higher, but looking at the crowd they kept it low, lol. Sound could be more crisper.

I first saw The Black Angels over a decade ago. Their shows have gotten bigger, better and richer. The band was in fine form and I hope to see them again soon.

Always love seeing the Black Angels! They put on a *great* show for an enthusiastic crowd! Haven't been to the Crocodile since they moved, but loved the new venue/location.

Great performance but the venue has poor bar service. you wait in multiple long, long lines to get a drink with poor coordination and opportunities for line cutters.

Wonderful Show and sets from both Primus and The Black angels. The Rush tribute definitely a highlight of the night. Nobody could do Rush quite like Primus.

I absolutely loved seeing the band live, although it would have been a lot better had they played in their sister city Adelaide! Perhaps next visit?

Absolutely banging! Love the washed out heavy reverb sound with their choppy tremolos and hot scorching fuzz tones! Very tight performance and huge sound!
