Black Market Karma can be loosely described as psychedelic rock. Their sound is thick and colourful, the core of it rooted in 60's guitar and pop music, with broader flavours of Psychedelia, Fuzzed out tones and drunken grooves. They've also incorporated touches of Folk, Blues, Traditional Indian Music, Hip Hop production and Lo Fi Electronica. Hailing from London and now residing on the South coast of England, the band has 10 albums in it's catalogue, 8 of which were made and released between 2012 & 2016, all written, performed, recorded and produced in their entirety by band leader and multi instrumentalist Stanley Belton while he was living in the band's own 'Cocoon' studio. Stan has recently been working on collaborations with Pete Kember AKA Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3) Joakim Ahlund of Cesars & Les Big Byrd, Tess Parks & The Underground Youth The band have also just released their new album ‘Aped Flair & Hijacked Ideas’ to a very positive reception: “Black Market Karma offer unadulterated sincerity and dynamism in their sonic approach and 'Aped Flair & Hijacked Ideas' is a bold and ambitious body of work; a cacophony of beguiling melodies, killer hooks and an abundance of playfully distorted wobble” Clash Music 'A trip you don't want to miss out on...there is nothing 'extra' here that is not needed, that doesn't serve to create a better, more addictive song. This album is bravely and perfectly executed'' The Spill Magazine “Impressive and singular, yet filled with easy and accessible appeal...making music without following fad or fashion or the need to satisfy public expectation” The Record Stache “With musical influences including numerous genres, their psychedelic vision goes well beyond the influential underpinnings of 60's rock, presenting a kaleidescopic array of sonic threads woven together into the fabulous tapestry” Amplify Music Magazine “Go and listen to the record now and then get back to me and we can compare notes about just how truly great it is” The Big Takeover
