About Blacktop Mojo
A hard-driving Southern rock unit based out of Palestine, Texas, Blacktop Mojo's fiery blend of post-grunge, classic rock, and metal falls somewhere between Soundgarden, Black Stone Cherry, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Founded in 2012 by frontman Matt James and drummer Nathan Gillis, the band eventually morphed into a five-piece with the additions of bass player Matt Curtis and guitarists Ryan Kiefer and Kenneth Irwin. They released their debut album, I Am, in 2014, followed by a heavy bout of touring that saw the group sharing the stage with a wide array of heavy hitters, including Bon Jovi, Sammy Hagar, Candlebox, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Black Stone Cherry, Shaman’s Harvest, Pop Evil, Puddle of Mudd, and Drowning Pool among others. These guys never disappoint! An amazing show with three killer opening bands. We drive ten hours to see them here in Tulsa at the Shrine. Which was a great venue with an awesome staff and bar. Fast fair priced drinks, great vibe. Thanks Matt and the gang for another amazing show. BTM killing it! We drive to Shawnee the next night for the next show. Changed up set list, amazing covers and cool venue also.

Didn’t know what to expect from this small venue. These boys blew my socks off , them boys can play their asses off . I feel bad because the crowd was super small and the way these guys sound and play they deserve a much bigger audience. They need publicity and let people know they are here and ready go. I’m sure we will see them in arenas soon enough. Looking forward to the next time I can see them

I came across Blacktop Mojo some years ago. I took a chance on seeing a band I knew nothing about and have been a fan ever since. When I heard they were opening for Nonpoint, I booked a hotel, and drove the hour and a half to the show. They did not disappoint, putting on a show, although not as long as when they’re headlining. But a great show all the same. It was quite the magical night. Nonpoint and Blacktop Mojo, two killer high energy bands.

This band never disappoint's! They play with such heart and soul it's contagious! They had everyone on their feet and dancing! From their spot on covers to their #1 original music they are a band to be reckoned with. To see them live is truly a treat they sound just like their records and then some. Ate Piesanos before the show, great $40 pizza. The warm up act, Brayden Stewart was impressive with great jams! Blacktop, Mojo came out kind of flat, but then picked it up. Felt like the lead singer was looking at me directly the whole show, bassist was constantly making crazy faces and the lead guitarist looked like a FBI agent. Highlight of the show, got an acoustic Whipping Post cover. And the closer.Dream On was pretty tight!

Once again Blacktop Mojo delivers some of the best music and energy you can experience in rock and roll. They are talented down to earth guys doing what they love to do and making the Mojo Nation love them more and more with each show. This was #4 for me and I cannot wait to see the tour dates next year so I can see them again and again! This was an beautiful venue!

Can't believe this was a "Free" show!!! They blew the roof off of the Bareback! Such a fun kickass band everyone in Blacktop Mojo is incredibly talented and each one dominants the stage! Such a tight sound and exceptional energy coming from that stage really pours into the audience into our souls! Go see them live it's an experience not just a show! Holy Sh*#!!!! These guys were F’ing awesome. The lead vox, dual guitars, bassist playing acoustic guitar for “In the Air tonight” cover singalong. They were fantastic, definitely should be seen live. And cool as hell hanging with them afterwards. Anyone contemplating seeing them live should DEFINITELY GO! You will not be disappointed, the real deal. They deserve big success in a just & fair world.

This was a fantastic concert. I did the VIP thing and got to meet the band. A really nice bunch of guys playing music and having fun. The show was professional and full of strong vocals with powerful riffs. They do a few covers which are well-done. I'd prefer them just playing their own tunes. They have an incredible variety of songs that could fill any setlist.
