About Cannibal Corpse
Formed in 1988, Buffalo born/Tampa raised Cannibal Corpse helped found, manipulate and transcend the very boundaries of death metal beginning with the scandalously controversial debut, Eaten Back To Life. Raising the eyebrows of inquisitive metalheads and incensed parents and politicians, the record - produced by Scott Burns at the now renowned Morrisound Studios - was more extreme and confrontational than anything the metal genre had ever known. As a result of the band's brilliantly gruesome cover art, grisly lyrics and song titles like "Hammer Smashed Face," "Meat Hook Sodomy" and "Addicted To Vaginal Skin," follow-up records Butchered At Birth (1991) and Tomb Of The Mutilated (1992) were met with further contempt by the likes of such organized censorship leagues as the PMRC. In just three years, the sale of Cannibal Corpse merchandise was (temporarily) prohibited in Australia, Korea and New Zealand (in fact, the sale of Butchered At Birth and the performance of those three records is still forbidden in Germany). But dissuaded they were not. Many words come to mind when you hear the name Cannibal Corpse, but one truly defines the soon-to-be thirty-year death metal veterans: Unstoppable. "We're proud to be part of a scene that has great, experienced bands that stick to their guns," affirms Webster. "Death metal is an established form of underground music that's here to stay, and the leadership bands like these have shown by staying true to the genre is no doubt part of the reason it has such longevity." That Cannibal Corpse have carved out a career spanning almost three decades is testament to their work ethic, innovative songwriting, passion and devotion to extreme music - though it still remains an astounding feat to the members, as Webster makes humbly clear. "Who could have imagined this? When we started, even Black Sabbath hadn't been around for three decades. There simply was no precedent for a lifelong career in metal, of any kind, let alone a relatively new form like death metal. We've been unbelievably lucky, and we are so grateful to our fans for making it possible." In typically grounded fashion, they continue to forge ahead, seeing no end in sight, Webster stating he likes to think they have yet to write their best record, while Mazurkiewicz outlines their goals: "I would say we just want to keep it going, try to better ourselves - and finally open for Slayer!"

Cannibal Corpse are among the very best in metal period. I've been a metal head since 1991. I've seen practically all the big metal bands and I loved the show last night. They are the real deal for sure. They all gave their all on that stage last night for an adoring and moshing crowd. I'm a huge fan and can't wait for Cannibal Corpse to return to San Antonio. By the way, the Aztec Theatre is an awesome and historic venue right up there with the Tobin Center. Thank you.

The bands were incredible, amazing energy and the crowd fed on that shit making the experience incredible. CC moshpits were just mental. The sound crew however dropped the ball big fucking time. We basically had a drum show for Black Anvil and Immolation as well as the beginning of the Dark Funeral set. They somehow also muted the vocals for a while during Dark Funeral. Thankfully they got their shit together for Cannibal Corpse, but I can't help but feel bad for all the other bands that gave their best.

I live the intimacy of the Mars Music Hall because it let's you get up close and personal with the bands. The atmosphere was awesome and the bands were epic. Took my daughter to her first metal show and she had a wonderful experience and the people were super friendly and helpful when it got a little rough. We tried looking for this one guy that kept a close eye pit for her during Cannibal Corpse and thank him, but we lost him in the crowd.

Necrot got stuck in the snow so locals Lord Gore filled in; not bad for last minute fill-ins. Blood Incantation was more like Bored Yawncantation, in my opinion; insert-any-generic-band-from-this-genre-here and you get the same thing: meh. Morbid Angel seemed a bit off and the double-bass drums drowned out most of the guitars/bass/vocals. CANNIBAL CORPSE is the reason I went to the show and the reason I gave 5 hammer smashed stars! As always: crushing, loud and the undisputed Kings of Death Metal, in my opinion.

It was bad ass ,I wish Fulci would have engaged the crowd more but they were all business , the kicked ass. Municipal Waste tore the place up , that's who I went to see , I have seen Cannibal Corpse several times and they are always amazing . Full of Hell had some good vocals but I wasn't to sure about the dj mixing board on stage . Still a kick ass show , we need more metal in Arkansas.

CANNIBAL CORPSE!!! I fuckin' love Webster. The experience of seeing them live, even if it's just for 8 songs like I did, it takes so much out of you. You can't put it into words exactly. I got crowdsurfed for the very first time for Deatb Walking Terror. I not only highly recommend, I URGE you to go see them live, it's an experience you won't forget and will certainly feel in the morning.

Absolutely 💯 energy . Every band on this bill gave 💯 % of their energy to the crowd . And the crowd used it and threw it right back to the bands . It was a sea of crowdsurfing.non stop for every band . If you have never seen any of these bands I highly recommend you to get on it . You will not be disappointed.
