About Counting Crows
Counting Crows became popular in 1993 following the release of their debut album August and Everything After; featuring the hit song Mr. Jones. The band was formed by singer Adam Duritz (previously of Himalayans and Sordid Humor) and guitarist David Bryson (Local producer and former member of the band Mr. Dog) in San Francisco, California in 1990. Counting Crows originally performed as an acoustic duo, playing gigs in and around Berkeley and San Francisco. For the first album, Adam and David added bassist Matt Malley, the multiinstrumental Charlie Gillingham, and Drummer Steve Bowman. David Immergluck was the second guitarist on the first album, but did not officially join the band until 1999. Guitarist Dan Vickery was added just as the band set out on their first tour. Counting Crows, with their intimate and melancholy approach, achieved a large fan base among Generation X alternative rock fans who were looking for something different from the raging guitars of the Seattle music scene. The band's most recent success included a .. 1 hit with the song Accidentally in Love, which was featured on the Shrek 2 soundtrack (which has sold over 1,000,000 copies), as well as nominations last year for a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award for the track. To date the band has sold over 20 million CDs worldwide. In 2004 the band released their first ever Best Of set, Films about Ghosts, which featured songs from every phase of the Counting Crows recording career. The new album, Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, was released on March 25th, 2008. However, on January 16, 2008 the band released a digital EP as a free download on their official web site, consisting of the songs 1492 and When I Dream Of Michelangelo. The lead single from the album is You Can't Count On Me, which was released for radio play on February 4, 2008. The album itself is thematically and stylistically divided into two parts: the first, more rock-influenced Saturday Nights, and the second, more country-influenced Sunday Mornings. Theme changes along with style; in the Sunday Mornings portion of the album, songs become more reflective. The iTunes release contains several bonus tracks, including a track-by-track interview with Duritz. Members of the band: Adam Duritz - lead vocals, piano, wurlitzer, tamborine David Bryson - guitars, dobro, vocals Charles Gillingham - piano, organ, accordion, mellotron, vocals Dan Vickery - guitars, sitar, banjo, vocals David Immergluck - guitars, bass, electric sitar, mandolin, vocals Jim Bogios - drums, percussion loops, vocals Millard Powers - touring bassist Ex-members of the band: Matt Malley - guitars, double bass, vocals [bandmember from 1994 to=2002]Ben Mize[/bandmember] - drums, percussion, tambourine, bulbs, vocals Steve Bowman - drums, vocals Ben Ulrich - drums Marty Jones - bass guitar Lydia Holly - keyboards Toby Hawkins - drums Albums August And Everything After - (1993) Recovering The Satellites - (1996) Across a Wire - Live in New York City - (1998) This Desert Life - (1999) Hard Candy - (2002) Films About Ghosts: The Best Of - (2003) *New Amsterdam: Live At Heineken Music Hall - (2006) August And Everything After, Deluxe Edition - (Fall 2007) Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings - (March 25, 2008)

Excellent. Only problem ( extremely small ) is that Adam Duritz has lost interest in singing his most popular songs as they were originally recorded. I’d like to hear them exactly as they were recorded back in the 90’s. His new style is half talking and half singing. Still a great show in spite of that.

Saw Counting Crows and Live last night on July 6th. Counting Crows was fantastic, audio was tuned in really well. Great show! Live, on the other hand didn’t get the benefit of any fine tuning of their sound. Keyboards were dominating the show in our section, and really drowned out the lyrics and guitar detail. Overlapping waves of reverb. Were they just using CC’s presets?

Privileged to see Counting Crows live at Newcastle City Hall — October 23, 2025. It’s the same legendary venue that’s hosted countless iconic bands, and for me, it’s full of memories. I first saw the Crows here back in 2014, and now—11 years later—they’re still going strong, celebrating 35 years together and promising another 10. So I guess I’ll see them again in 2035!

Adam and the band were on fire. They got back to basics and put on a true Counting Crows concert. The new stuff was just as good if not better than their old. A truly wonderful time and must see. Glad you're back Adam!!! Singing from the heart again. The rendition of "Round Here" brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for the great show. 🤟✨🙏

My all time Favorite Band! I Love the stories that Adam shares that give the songs even more feeling and life. If that is even possible because his music is so amazing! This 25 year year tour he shared more about each song and it made me Love Counting Crows Music even more. Thank You for the Music Adam & Counting Crows!

Great Concert! Adam was in a great shape, perfect voice and amazing interpretation of all the greatest CC songs. Could be longer!!! I was hoping for more. No need to play Mr. Jones! But they did. Everyone was in great shape, they delivered a great concert. Amazing also White Buffalo and Allison Krauss. An evening in the U. S. !!!

Amazing!! So much energy—great banter from Adam Duritz! His singing voice is in top form! All the guys are excellent musicians. They did a few songs from the new album as well as deep cuts from early releases. I have never seen them perform “I Wish I Was a Girl” live before. All in all a great show!

The band was great. The venue was below average. It was a hotel convention center room with a bunch of chairs in it. The audio was below that which I’d expect at a big concert like this. I won’t go to anymore shows at this venue but I can’t wait to see Counting Crows again.

Counting Crows were excellent as always, the crowd, however, were awful. Those with seats were sat down the entire event and made no noise at all. Told you off it you wanted to get up and dance. Never experienced anything like that before. If/when you come back to London, I'll be standing this time.
