Hailing from northern Italy, Despite Exile have been shaping their sound since 2011, drawing early inspiration from the technical aggression of Veil of Maya, Whitechapel and Fallujah, and quickly forging a distinct identity of their own. Their debut full-length Sentience (2013) laid the groundwork, further expanded with the Disperse EP (2015, Lifeforce Records), where the band’s signature blend of relentless riffs, atmospheric depth and introspective lyricism began to emerge. With Relics (2017, Lifeforce Records), Despite Exile refined their vision into a cohesive force, taking their sound across Italy, Europe and the UK, and culminating in a Japan tour alongside Bleed From Within. Following the global halt of 2020, the band re-emerged channeling renewed energy and a broader sonic scope. This evolution crystallized with Wound (2022), a record that marked a decisive step forward, opening the doors to extensive touring, including a UK headlining run and an appearance at UK Tech-Fest 2023. Momentum continued to build in 2024, with Despite Exile sharing stages with acts such as Suicide Silence, Suffocation and Counterparts, solidifying their presence within the modern metal landscape. During this time, the band also partnered with Blood Blast Distribution, further expanding their reach. In December 2025, the band entered a new chapter, touring as main support for Fulci's Italian tour and releasing their latest album, Where Hope Goes To Die. The record represents a bold shift in sound and artistic direction, pushing their boundaries while staying true to their core identity. The response was immediate, with the album quickly surpassing half a million streams. A deluxe edition is set for release in April 2026, marking yet another step forward in the band’s ongoing evolution.
