A JOURNEY THROUGH DARKNESS Formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1993 by guitarist Lord Ahriman and Blackmoon, Dark Funeral has spent more than three decades establishing itself as one of the most respected and uncompromising names in black metal. Following the release of their legendary self-financed debut EP in 1994, the band quickly built a reputation for relentless songwriting, uncompromising musicianship, and devastating live performances. Throughout their career, Dark Funeral has released a string of acclaimed albums including "The Secrets of the Black Arts", "Vobiscum Satanas", "Diabolis Interium", "Attera Totus Sanctus", "Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus", "Where Shadows Forever Reign", and "We Are The Apocalypse". Over the years, the band has performed in more than 55 countries, headlined countless tours, appeared at many of the world's biggest metal festivals, and shared the stage with artists including Dimmu Borgir, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Immortal, Behemoth, and many more. Career highlights include a Swedish P3 Guld nomination for "Diabolis Interium", becoming the first international metal band to perform in Singapore in more than a decade, multiple international chart successes, and numerous industry awards—including the 2018 SKAP Metal Award presented to Lord Ahriman for his contributions to Swedish metal. Released in 2022, "We Are The Apocalypse" became Dark Funeral's highest-charting studio album to date, reaching #6 in Germany, #13 in Finland, #28 in Switzerland, #29 in Austria, #31 in Sweden, and additional chart positions worldwide. The album marked another milestone in the band's evolution while remaining true to the darkness that has defined Dark Funeral since its inception. In 2026, Dark Funeral returns with "A Beast To Praise (Live at Fållan, Stockholm)", an explosive live album capturing one of the most powerful performances of the "We Are The Apocalypse" touring cycle. Serving as the closing chapter of that era, the release showcases the band at the height of its live intensity. Following the release of "A Beast To Praise", Dark Funeral will embark on the massive "In League With Satan" European arena tour alongside Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir throughout October 2026. After completing the tour, the band will enter the studio to begin recording its highly anticipated eighth studio album. With songwriting and pre-production already well underway, the album is planned for a 2027 release through Century Media Records / Sony Music. More than three decades after its formation, Dark Funeral remains one of the defining forces of black metal—relentless, uncompromising and more powerful than ever. As one era comes to an end, another is already taking shape, with the band's eighth studio album set to usher in the next chapter of Dark Funeral's legacy.
