Donna Summer

Donna Summer

Two artists known as "Donna Summer" 1.) Donna Summer (born LaDonna Adrian Gaines on December 31, 1948) is a disco-dance singer known best for her late 70s disco hits (earning her the title "Queen of Disco") and early-to-mid 80s pop hits. She sold 120 Million records to date and holds a few world records, including the longest 'straight' note sung live for almost 17 seconds. She is the only artist in History who has 3 double albums hit number 1 back to back on the US Billboard chart. "I Feel Love" was the first song that was inducted in the US dance hall of fame. Of particular note was 1989 when she teamed up with legendary UK song writing / production trio Stock/Aitken/Waterman to release the 'Another Place & Time' CD. This briefly relaunched Donna's career, scoring huge hits in the UK & US with 'This Time I Know It's For Real'. Lesser hits followed including 'I Don't Wanna Get Hurt' (the video for which Donna refused to appear in stating that she felt the song should have been given to 'a much younger woman'...) and 'Love's About To Change My Heart'. Unfortunately Donna only recorded one album with the team who are on record as saying she was the best vocalist they had ever worked with. In the 2000s she has primarily been recording music for dance clubs, including her latest single "I Got Your Love." She plans to release a new album in Spring 2007. Born in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, Summer began performing in her church's choir at the age of ten. 2.) Jason Forrest, a Breakcore artist, worked under the name Donna Summer until 2004.
