Emily Afton is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ whose emotionally candid writing and unmistakable voice help to bridge the musical worlds of alt-pop, indie-rock, folk, and electronica. Born and raised in San Diego, with roots across California (calling the Oakland Bay Area and San Diego home), Afton has built a following through her DIY ethos, artistry, and musical storytelling throughout years of performing and releasing original music. Described by NPR as "wonderful, wonderful electro-pop that's weary of life, but still positive," Afton's songs have been featured on shows like Riverdale, Batwoman, The One that Got Away and beyond. She has toured nationally as direct support for Third Eye Blind, performed her political protest song for a 40,000-person audience at the San Francisco Women's March, and has shared stages with a diverse array of artists in various cities and countries around the world. Her 2024 sophomore album Circaa marked a bold artistic evolution, earning praise for its lush and polished production and deeply personal exploration of identity, heartbreak, and liberation. Now, Afton is entering a new creative era with a forthcoming folk / alt-country EP, titled “Where Are We Going After This”, slated for a Fall 2026 release. The EP’s first single, “It’s You” arrives July 24, introducing a retro indie-rock sound that perhaps calls back to Afton’s earlier days of street performing with an acoustic guitar, while preserving the hi-fi production and emotional honesty that has become her signature. Whether it’s DJ’ing, solo-vocal looping with a beat machine, or on stage with her band, Emily Afton continues to create music experiences that invite listeners to feel deeply, question freely, and find comfort in the chaos of these times.
