About Gold City Quartet

Their name is synonymous with setting the standard for male quartets since their inception in 1980. Many have tried to pattern their style and sound, but there’s only one Gold City. Theirs is a stellar career with numerous number one songs, fan and industry awards, and prestigious honors. Yet this Gadsden, Alabama-based group remains down-to-earth, grounded in their southern roots, and committed to continuing their mission of delivering power-packed four-part harmonies and singing songs that are meaningful, entertaining, inspiring, and uplifting. There’s something to be said for longevity. In a time when too many people lack what it takes to stick to a plan for the long haul, Gold City has proven they are a mainstay in the world of gospel music. In addition to a full-time year round touring schedule, Gold City has a wall of awards and accolades from the past thirty-eight years. Radio continues to embrace this quartet, honoring them with number one songs in each of the last four decades. With an energetic vocal line-up and fresh musical arrangements of dynamic songs, you can expect many more years of success for this great group. Every musical genre has its artists who defy the norms of the average life span of a career. Whether it’s the Eagles in rock music or country’s mainstay, The Oak Ridge Boys, there are those who rise to legendary status and continue to make music that appeals to their generation while gathering new fans on a continual basis. Gold City is among those elite groups who continues to reach new audiences and consistently amass new fans who fall in love with their distinct sound as soon as they hear it. Each member of Gold City is talented and dedicated to sharing the good news of the gospel through songs with encouraging and challenging lyrics, presented in an exciting performance on stage. Each man is committed to moving forward and taking Gold City even further than it has gone before. Remaining true to the heritage of the legacy of the past near-40 years, Gold City continue to build on the great foundation that has already been established. In other words, there’s a lot more in store for Gold City fans old and new, so get ready–the future is now and the best is yet to come.

Entering the high school auditorium, I was not expecting to see a bass, drum, and keyboard set up ready to back up a Southern Gospel Quartet. What a pleasant surprise, but a bit overpowering fat times or the meager sound system. Gold City dug into their catalogue bringing forth both old and new all the while delivering a message of hope for a troubled world. One highlight included an audience sing along with the members of both Gold City and The Kingsmen on the stage. This particular audience sounded exceptional for whatever reason. The other when Pastor Hoell and his wife from the sponsoring church took the stage for a song. Who knew there was so much talent in the room!

We enjoyed the concert. It was very good in spite of the bass singer not being there. But life happens and it was still a good concert. We always enjoy when the pianist is given the opportunity to bless us with his talent. However, the accompanying track was much to loud to fully appreciate the pianist. We would prefer a solo by the pianist. And please, as the late J.D. Sumner would say, NO ORGAN. Thanks again for going to R-S Central High.

The concert was phenomenal from beginning to end. The current line up of Gold City Quartet is amazing. They performed Gold City classics seamlessly. Danny Riley does his father and the group proud, Josh Feemster adds style and energy as lead, Chris Jenkins admirably fulfills the role of tenor, and Jeff Chapman is one of the best bass singers ever! Terry Wooten comletes the group with his constant smile and terrific talent on the keyboard. Sure hope they return to the West Coast soon.

Gold City was sounding better than ever with Jeff Chapman filling in on bass. My only wish would be that they got the whole concert to themselves without other groups sharing the stage. Also, I wish more groups with pianists take a few songs to sing with just the piano and voices, and let the piano solo be piano only. Talent speaks for itself. I travel to a lot of gospel concerts and Gold City does it great with this lineup. ♥️

Fantastic concert—and that’s coming from a die-hard fan of the Gold City of the 90s. No one can replace Tim Riley, but Jeff Chapman has taken command of the bass part in a way that no one else could. And Chris Jenkins is simply a tenor machine! I love that they are singing songs from their extensive catalog and I heard some of my most favorites sung so well. I look forward to hearing them again very soon.
