About Hiraeth
Formed in early 2016 by Skip (Guitar, Vocals), Rilo (Drummer), Cwitz (Vocals) and Dan (Guitar) meeting at a little shinny at Riley's house (Lions House). It was just an idea until many drinks later this became the beginning on the brotherhood that is 'Lions Of The Underground' The concept of the name is quite simple and its narrowed down to who we are as people, you, me and everyone else that stand beside us. We live in a corrupt world, run by corrupt people. When good change is difficult and generations collide, there will always be one thing that stays the same, the underground. This is aimed at all the kids who scramble through chump change to buy a new skateboard, going to shows whenever they can, the people who want to live their lives without the system holding them back. We do what we do, we do what we can. When the signals radiate and the front doors begin to open, we will always be the loudest voice. Always. We immediately got on to jamming our first demo 'Faceless' introduced to the band by Skip. The momentum was flowing and in no time we had many tracks ready to release to the world. We auditioned a few guys to play bass but none of them sharing the same passion, commitment and friendship leading us the play our first 2 shows with just the four of us. Not long after we met Tibby, an accomplished guitarist that was willing to drop a few strings for the band. Within the first 3 months of writing we had created the base tracks for our first EP 'Oblivious'. We have released the self produced title track 'Oblivious' to the world and have had a great response from you all! It is based on things such as Loss and living life the way you want too... The way you need too... We stand for those that are too scared or too alone to raise their voice and give an opinion on the important matters of earth. Knowing we are still only new to the scene, we wont let that or anything else slow us down. Our enthusiasm for music is shown by our commitment in the studio and our energy on the stage. When we write music, they are not just words to us. Each song has its own story and emotional meaning. We do not have just one sound in our music, we have adopted many styles from the catchy riffs of rock and roll to the heavy breakdowns of metal. We could say we are a hardcore band or metalcore band but we would be lying because we don't restrict ourselves to a specific sound. We write what we enjoy playing and make lyrics accordingly to the feel of the song. In summary, we wish to extend our love and thanks to all those who have come to our shows, given us support and stood by us. Without everyone's support we wouldn't have a chance to share our passion with the world! "Even though we are just starting, i can see so much in store for this band. I've spent so much time in bands with people that just didnt have the same commitment as i did. Chris and i have been best mates since primary school with the same love for music. We always wanted to start a band with people who truly share this interest but it never worked out. Since then meeting all the other lads, forming a dis-functional family has been the best thing that has happened to me." - Rilo "I always wanted to be in a band. Music is my escape and my true love and what better way to experience life than too share it with people you love?. I never cared about what instrument i played... I just wanted to be apart of something more.... Something more than the ordinary everyday get up, go to work bullshit. I have never cared what people think of me and you shouldn't either. Follow your dreams and hold on to what makes you different. Cause in the end.... You cannot change, you have to fight keep your soul alive and shine more bright than the sun." - Cwitz "Ever since I can remember I've always dreamed of living on the road and feeling the roar of a different audience every night. I long to help people feel what I feel, whether that be through lyrics or the sound of emotion. You know how people often feel homesick? Well, I'm quite the opposite, I start to feel misguided when I'm in one place for too long. My home is the road, it's where I belong. When I first met 'Rilo' I saw a vast potential which I have never seen in a drummer before, this got me pretty damn excited to start something new. Not long after that I met his close mates Dan and Cwitz, the ugly Mexican and the Migit with an unpredictable voice from the depths of holy fuck. After a member change, moving Tibby our old bassist to lead guitar and completing the band by finding the last dickhead to the addition Brenton, I'm finally starting to understand what momentum feels like. It's time to bring the sky down." - Skip "Music has always been a huge passion of mine, i never feel more like myself than when I'm up on stage performing in front of people. Being in this band has been one of the greatest emotional outlets I've ever had and i can't wait to see where it takes me. Getting to share this dream with a group of best mates is awesome, It'll take me to places i have only dreamed of and further than that." - Dan
