Martin Cook, a former piano player for the Kingsmen Quartet and a chemistry teacher at Swain High School in Bryson City, NC, formed the Inspirations in 1964 with several of his teenage students: Archie Watkins, Ronnie Hutchins, Jack Laws and Dean Robinson. The Inspirations began traveling full-time in 1969, a year after hosting their first “Singing In The Smokies” event. The 1970s saw the Inspirations rise to national attention with a number of hit songs. The group continues today, still maintaining their iconic and unique sound.

WORDS CANNOT EXPLAIN but feeling led to TRY - so here goes! Still smiling! The Holy Spirit filled the church and every person in it! It wasn’t a concert, an event, or a performance. It was over 2 hours of God’s Presence and outpourings from His Creations praising Him for our lives and this opportunity to worship Him , and thank Him for His Love and Mercy, and especially for the Gift of His One and Only Son.

And I’ve been a huge fan of the Inspirations ever since! I got to see them in st James,Ava,Farmington Missouri and hopefully again in west plains in March!!! They are truly dear friends to me!! I’m 13 years old and absolutely love the old classic gospel style music the Inspirations are THE BEST!!!!!!!
First Assembly of God Church Saint James, MOI’m SO glad The Inspirations got to come and sing at my church. They were more than amazing and blessed my soul! My dad the Pastor of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church and I met them and got a signed copy of their cd A Pioneer Legacy, I love it and have listened to it all the way though twice!! Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church Rosa, ALWow! There is not a better singing group now. Not just gospel, but any genre. These guys have perfect chemistry and their singing/presentation is just awesome. If they are anywhere close to you, you must go. They are pretty much the only group that doesn’t have backing tracks and they don’t need it. If they are anywhere near you must go. One of the best concerts ever.
