About Kevin Nichols
Kevin Nichols is a solo artist that hits like a band. With loud riffs, catchy hooks, and diaristic lyricism, Nichols’ songs aim to connect on a deep emotional level, while continuing to bring the chaos and impact that have come to be a staple of their sound. Kevin is one of California’s best-kept indie secrets; if you know you know. In the summer of 2023, he spent 3 weeks isolated in the Mojave Desert alongside Grammy-nominated platinum record producer Alex Newport (At the Drive in, Death Cab For Cutie, Melvins). What came out the other side was Nichols’ latest record, Empty Out Who You Are, which was released and toured April 2025. Singles Up Again, Looking at the Ocean, and Will It to Be Real quickly garnered streams online and the album was well received by audiences on the road. This follows the success of 2023 of his 2021 LP Disappointer, which received critical acclaim and a sync feature in the hit video game Fortnite. Kevin performed Disappointer in its entirety at Bandcamp HQ in Oakland, CA, as part of Bandcamp Daily’s live stream series. He has achieved write ups in BrooklynVegan, Spin, Bandcamp Daily, IDIOTEQ, Audio Femme, Kqed, BEINABANDORDIE, and more.
