About King Buffalo

King Buffalo - Rochester, NY // Formed in September of 2013. King Buffalo are a power-trio bonded by three forces: flow, space, and, of course, heaviness. Their pace is a smooth cadence and perpetual hypnotic groove — it’s deliberate, powerful, and always moving. Space is prevalent and exudes the group’s blossoming confidence (and patience) — providing air for suspense, tension, and crescendoing releases. With the added breathing room, the explosive parts build and powerfully bust through like a blues-tinged, psychedelic, kraut-rock-powered tsunami. Bare witness to King Buffalo's journey as they cruise onward and upward, leaving behind an amazing soundtrack as they go. King Buffalo is the trio of vocalist/guitarist Sean McVay, bassist Dan Reynolds, and drummer Scott Donaldson. Since forming in 2013, the self-proclaimed "heavy psych" band has made its name via 4 EPs, 5 Full-lengths, and tours with the likes of Clutch, The Sword, All Them Witches, Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats and Elder.

Second time at classic grand. Staff are reasonably friendly and helpful. Went to see king buffalo and they were good although the guitar levels varied in quality with some odd clicking noises from the lead guitar. Obviously, being live that kind of random issue is not uncommon. I actually enjoyed the support band, the atomic bitch wax more that kB. Great stage presence and they were super tight and heavy as fook. Would go to one of their gigs on their own. Look out for them!!!

King Buffalo did not disappoint my 3rd time and every show had something new. Don't you love when you can see a band on multiple dates and not get the same exact set everytime. Keep it up Scott, Sean and Dan. Sean work on the spin. Venue is a nice place as well. Pic is the place with lights on [Relaxer were setting up for sound check] Check this place out sometime. Thanks Nate you operate a top notch venue.

Super good as always. A year prior I had seen them at the ritz opening for uncle acid without knowing who they were. They completely blew me away , stole the show, and were very loud so I made sure to remember to bring my earplugs this time haha! I felt like the sound was better at the ritz but it was cool to be up close and see his pedal board and keys being played/manipulated.

I went to the show just to see KB open. They were rad!!! McVay and the boys were on point. He's one of my fav guitarists and vocalists. They sounded exactly like they do on recordings which is super impressive because they use a ton of effects and have a highly intricate style with lots of rigid syncopation. TRANSLATION: They are a super fun band for everyone to jam out with!! So everyone should go see 'em!!

Impressive performance; do not hesitate to buy that ticket. I thought Velvet was a great fit for them; good size, conveniently located, and good opportunities for lighting design and video—which they used well. I was concerned about the sound because the last band I saw there made my head feel like it was banging around in a tin can, but this was an excellent experience.
