King Buffalo - Rochester, NY Psychedelic / Heavy Blues / Stoner Rock. Formed in September of 2013.
"King Buffalo is a psychedelic trio in the classic format of bass, drums, and guitar, whose expansive and thunderous music is anything but easily definable.
Formed by three long-standing members of the blooming Rochester, NY rock scene, King Buffalo gathered in September of 2013 to start working on a new musical collaboration in a heavy rock vein. Their efforts spawned a demo release and several splits and one-offs which, coupled with their impressive live show, quickly gained them an international audience.
King Buffalo is the trio of vocalist/guitarist Sean McVay, bassist Dan Reynolds, and drummer Scott Donaldson. Since forming in 2013, the self-proclaimed "heavy psych" band has made its name via 4 EPs, 4 Full-lengths, and tours with the likes of Clutch, The Sword, All Them Witches, and Elder.

I went to the show just to see KB open.
They were rad!!!
McVay and the boys were on point. He's one of my fav guitarists and vocalists.
They sounded exactly like they do on recordings which is super impressive because they use a ton of effects and have a highly intricate style with lots of rigid syncopation.
TRANSLATION:
They are a super fun band for everyone to jam out with!! So everyone should go see 'em!!

Impressive performance; do not hesitate to buy that ticket. I thought Velvet was a great fit for them; good size, conveniently located, and good opportunities for lighting design and video—which they used well. I was concerned about the sound because the last band I saw there made my head feel like it was banging around in a tin can, but this was an excellent experience.

King Buffalo blasted their way through my body and soul like a Godzilla-sized sloth on methamphetamines.
"Mein Gott!" they were incredible. And inevitable.
My only regret? That I didn't eat the 'shrooms I had considered eating before going to the show. A very small regret.
Three thumbs up. Waaaaaay up.

King Buffalo was great as always. This is the third time I've seen them live and they have always exceeded my expectations!
These dudes know how to rock, but they also know how to bring their audience along for the ride.
If you ever get a chance to see them live, don't pass it up - you'll be missing out on something great!

What a great show, in a fun, intimate venue (Crowbar in Tampa)! Consummate professionals King Buffalo made it feel like they were performing for a group of friends, interacting with the crowd between songs, and with never a note out of place. And it was lead singer/guitarist Sean McVay's birthday, which made it even more special!
