About Loose Change
Loose Change was founded in Bangkok, Thailand, by Katya and Angus. Angus was listening to a track that Katya had recorded earlier on at Rafelson Media in Los Angeles for a film her brother was producing. Angus really liked the track and especially liked Katya's voice, so he asked her more. She said she would much rather work on some live music in a band instead of studio albums. So Angus started writing, and by the time they were back in the UK, Not Alone had been written. After finishing not alone, Katya and Angus both thought that the music they were creating could have potential. So they both started compiling more ideas together for quite a while and to no avail. Until Can't Stop Thinking (About You) sort of came into being. "Can't Stop Thinking (About You) was written in a few moments. It came from a lot of ideas and lyrics that me and Katya had brainstormed. But I think songs have their own way of coming together when you least expect them to." says Angus McCabe. After finishing their duo of songs, Katya and Angus performed them live at their school's christmas fair in 2011, as well as a cover of Wish You Were Here, by Pink Floyd. Their performance went well and so after the fair had gone, Charlie Clark found Katya and Angus jamming in the school Dining Hall. "I used tables and chairs to write some beats for the songs they were playing, and they liked them!" says Charlie, who soon after was asked to join the band as their drummer. Before Angus started composing with Katya, he had done a lot of music with Luke Makris, bassist at his school. After writing Can't Stop Thinking (About You), Katya and Angus both thought they should develop their songs into band tracks. So luke was recruited into the band and soon enough, they were getting ready to record their demo album "Recording @ Ritz" at Ritz Music Studios in Putney. Soon it was time to record at Ritz, and the band had settled on the name: 'The 3rd Dimension' and they set off to Lacy Road to record their demos. Their recording session consisted of only three songs; 'Can't Stop Thinking (About You), Not Alone and We Will Overcome. With their new music recorded for the first time. The band decided to send it to Peter Rafelson at Rafelson Media. Peter is Katya's good friend, famous for his song "Open Your Heart", sung by Madonna, who he worked with and produced. When Peter received their Demo CD, he was vey exited and insisted that Angus and Katya came to see him in Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, Angus stayed with Katya at her brother's house in Beverly Hills, about twenty minutes from the studio. At Rafelson Media, Katya and Angus recorded an updated and modified version of 'Can't Stop Thinking (About You)' in just under a week with the help of Josie Aiello, Jubel Obien, Jeremy and Peter. When we arrived in the UK, Charlie invented the name 'Loose Change' and Cara Jameson was asked to join the band by Angus as a back up singer. They wrote harmonies for Katya's vocals and produced Cara's song 'More Time'. Soon it was time to record at Ritz for the second time, and the band set off to Lacy Road to record their demos. "The entire recording of 'Recording @ Ritz' was mostly pick and mix. Some songs we had Cara singing lead, we recorded whistling onto the end of 'Don't Wake Me If I'm Dreaming' at the last minute, and we recorded each song pressured by our time limit, so the outcome wasn't perfect, but we were still very happy with it." Says Angus. After recording 'Recording @ Ritz', progress in Loose Change was painfully slow, due to fights and conflicts within the band. This continued until the summer of 2011 when Angus temporarily left the band after a performance turned sour and there was a fight on stage in front of their audience. Later that week Cara was asked to leave Loose Change. After Cara left the band, Loose Change decided to do a final recording for their debut album at The Attic Sounds in South Bermondsey. Recording took 6 months, starting in May 2013 and finishing in November the same year. The album is currently being designed and neatened up at Tribal Manufacturing in Balham. Loose Change currently has a weekly Facebook reach of over 3,500 people and have been asked to play at various venues in London. They have fans in the UK, USA, Russia, Australia, France, Antigua and Barbuda, India, Ireland, Spain, Palestine and Israel. They hope to make an impact in the music industry and most importantly, have a good time! • www.soundcloud.com/loosechangeofficial • www.twitter.com/loosechangebrit • www.freewebstore.org/loosechangeshop • www.myspace.com/loosechangebrit
