NEONLIGHT is the union of two very different, unique personalities – Jakob Thomser and Tobias Jakubczyk – childhood friends brought together through their shared passion for Drum & Bass. The German producer and DJ duo first entered the worldwide D&B scene in 2009. Since then, they have developed their own individual sound, enveloping melodies and harmonic twists in Drum & Bass beats and fierce basslines with fast and heavy drums (174 bpm). Enticing listeners both in clubs and at tour concerts across the globe, including countries as close the Czech Republic and the Netherlands and as far as Australia and New Zealand, they have released their music with multiple labels, such as Blackout Music, Eatbrain, RAM Records, and Vision. In addition to their original work through NEONLIGHT, both Jakob and Tobi are also well known for their remixes with artists like Noisia, Hybrid Minds, Black Sun Empire, Celldweller, Annix, and State of Mind. Music Style Taking inspiration for their individual Drum & Bass style from Classical music, Progressive Rock, Big Beat, House, and Future Garage, NEONLIGHT has created works that embrace the Neurofunk subgenre. Influenced by artists such as Ed Rush & Optical, Audio, Dom & Roland, Sub Focus, Pendulum, Black Sun Empire, Noisia and Spor, the dynamic D&B duo has based their music on highquality sound design, working (mostly) with digital synthesizers and audio manipulation tools. In addition to pursuing the creation of remarkable melodies and hooks, the two artists pay close attention to every little detail, for example with Jakob sometimes spending 2 hours on 2 seconds of music. The result is a signature sound that expresses a killer blend of musicality and attitude, boosted by their creative and daring approach to Drum & Bass, earning them ranks among the top D&B musicians today as well as countless fans.
