About Overtime
OverTime is an American rapper, actor, song writer, and record producer who’s known for his blue collar, working class, style of music which originates from his upbringing in Montana. His style of music is comprised of hip hop, country, and 70’s style rock. Let’s call it 'urban alternative'! Synopsis: Born in Bozeman, MT, the youngest of 5 children to his parents, OverTime grew up with a 2 family life after the divorce of his parents when he was 3. In the recent months, thousands of people have become fans of OverTime and his blue collar, working class, hip hop/rock/country styled music. His most successful album to date is ‘The Foundation’, released in 2016, which features his hit songs “Hunger In My Stomach” and “Next To Me”. His latest album “Johnny Rotten”, released in 2017, is rapidly catching traction with fans as well. Early Life: Born in Bozeman, MT, the youngest of 5 children to his parents, OverTime grew up with a 2 family life after the divorce of his parents when he was 3. Shortly after the divorce, OverTime moved to Missoula, MT where he experienced a more “city-like” life with his mother where he resides today. His father, a miner and rancher, remained in the small town of Whitehall, MT where OverTime spent his summers growing up in that small town country life giving him the best of both worlds. The value of work was instilled into OverTime at an early age, growing up in the classic “Blue Collar” family. His mother, who’s worked for the railroad his entire life would work 50+ hrs per week, and his father would set an example by working even more than that at the mines. As OverTime grew, sports became a major of his life. He was a 3 sport athlete playing basketball, football, and baseball which he’d eventually become solely focused on as the years grew on. At 16, OverTime’s mother took a job in a rural area of Montana that didn’t offer high school baseball. Together with his Father, his Mother agreed to allow him to continue to live in Missoula, MT so he could pursue sports at a competitive level as long as he maintained his grades and kept his focus. So, what happens when you have a 16 yr old kid living on his own with little to no supervision? Parties became more of a focus than school and sports. This began a period of drinking and drug use. At 20 years old, OverTime made the decision to put down the drugs and begin rapping. Living in Montana, rap music definitely wasn’t the prominent genre of choice by most people, so this of course came with a lot of scrutiny. In 2006, OverTime released his first album which was a duo album with then rapper “Young Jay”. Together, the two of them toured around Montana performing on any stage they could. Often paying people to allow them to play. It soon became obvious to OverTime that the record industry wasn’t looking to sign any rappers from Montana, not then, and not anytime soon, so he began studying the industry. What do labels do? How do they do it? What do agents do? How do they do it? How are contracts structured? What is a manager? What does a manager do? Rather than seeking the services of different professionals in the industry to handle those things for him, OverTime learned each of their roles and applied them to himself. One of the things OverTime discovered that really resonated with him was branding and how to build one. For years he was creating music and an image reflective upon what he was hearing on the radio, and what he had seen on the television. In 2015, things really started to click for him. He realized that being something he was not, was not the route he needed or wanted to go. The result? He got back to his roots. He no longer wanted to be a “rapper” per se, so much as he just wanted to be himself. So who is OverTime? OverTime is a kid that grew up in Montana riding horseback, atv’s, motorcycles, shooting guns, and wearing “work” style jeans, playing in the mud, and listening to Hank with his Dad. Today he has managed to tap into what almost seems like an untapped market, of blue collar working class type hip hop fans who simply want something to relate to. His music has transformed from the more “urban” style hip hop, to a more country/rock style hip hop. When OverTime performs solo, which he often does while on tour, his set is a little more on the hip hop side. When he performs with his Blue Collar Soldiers live band, it takes a turn towards the more rock side of hip hop. If you’ve never seen OverTime perform in concert, you can expect a high energy, a custom light show, and “down-to-earth” monologue. Career Highlights: OverTime has booked and headlined 8 U.S. tours without the assistance of any agencies, labels, or management. He’s as independent and self-sufficient as it comes in the industry. His tours have taken him through 27 different states, a number he hopes to increase in the near future. OverTime’s Youtube channel has roughly 9 million views with 4.5 million of them being on his hit song “Hunger In My Stomach”. His channel also boasts roughly 35,000 subscribers. His album “The Foundation” held a top 10 most selling hip hop album for 10 months straight with his distribution company CD Baby. CD Baby handles thousands of releases of indi-artists. OverTime’s latest release “Johnny Rotten” is quickly catching traction with the lead single being a song called “Backwoods”. OverTime's social media numbers continue to climb every day. His Facebook page alone grows by roughly 1,000 new likes per week giving him a current total of 75,000 follows. OverTimes music videos that have been uploaded to Facebook directly have garnered 5.5 million views giving him a total combined view count between Facebook and Youtube of 14.3 million views!
