About PJ Anderson
PJ is a Christian singer-songwriter from Nashville, TN. PJ has a unique ability to connect with his listener.
He can write songs that touch those places deep down in your heart where joy and pain reside in harmony. His heartfelt lyrics strike a chord and draw out those emotions that are waiting to be uncovered. His worship opens hearts to the love of the Lord and helps every worshipper enter into the presence of Our God
PJ learned to play guitar from a nun, Sister Charita in 5th grade. He landed a role in the high school musical, Grease and started a band in college that opened up doors to writing his own songs. After college, he was a Youth Minister and played in worship bands until he made the move from Chicago to Nashville. PJ now travels the country inspiring youth, playing concerts, leading worship at conferences and retreats and encouraging youth through his prayerful form of worship. Most notably, PJ has led music at Mega Workshops at the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) in 2015 and 2013 as well as leading worship at Catholic Heart Work Camp (CHWC) for the past 6 summers. He headlined the Youth Rally and Mass For Life at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC for 30,000 youth in 2016. PJ also played at World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland, where 3 million Catholic and Christian youth joined with Pope Francis to grow in faith.
ABOUT THE MUSIC
Mercy, Mercy, Anderson's 5th studio album, debuted at #7 on iTunes Christian/Gospel Charts and is receiving promising reviews across the board. CCM Magazine says, "Mercy Mercy is a loaded 15-song album complete with thought-provoking tracks all resting on a soothing, rich musical palette featuring deep arrangements and intricate harmonies. “We Adore You” specifically captures Anderson’s exceptional vocal performance, showcasing range and passion. The flow and overall timbre of Mercy Mercy is such a refreshing listen, the album will thoroughly be enjoyed in any setting or mood." Russ Hutto of The Worship Community says, "You can feel the theme of mercy woven through the album. It’s a cry of closeness and intimacy with the Father, and thankfulness for His mercy and grace." Gary Miller of WorshipMinistry.com shares, "Another great release from PJ! The title cut Mercy, Mercy is a heartfelt song about the depth of God’s love for us, beautifully written and sung! Sons and Daughters is get in the car and take a drive rocking kind of song, fun to sing OUT LOUD!! Deep songs, passionate, heartfelt."
RISE, PJ's 4th full length album, which is receiving praise and critical acclaim, released on October 7, 2014 and debuted at #11 on the iTunes Christian Charts. Jesusfreakhideout gave RISE a positive nod and said "it would be surprising to not see his career catapult with this album. Musically, it [RISE] resembles something Matt Matt Maher would record...it could easily be heard on CCM Radio" says Ryan Barbee of Jesusfreakhideout. Gary Miller of WorshipMinistry.com, writes, “Be it the melodies, the lyrics, PJ’s writing style, or a combination of all those things, RISE oozes peace." He goes on to say that RISE has "very radio-worthy tunes! Go buy this album.” Jimmy Mitchell, founder and president of Love Good Music says, “PJ’s latest offering, RISE, is by far his most impressive yet. The songs have been crafted with powerful hooks and anthemic arrangements that keep the listener singing and praying for days on end.” Joshua Andre of 365 Days of Inspiring Media says,"Rise is one of the best albums to release in a while. Sure to resonate with many listeners, PJ’s undeniable joy and passion for God is evident."
RISE features an all-star cast of musicians including: Richard Scott (Matt Maher), Daniel Ornellas (Tree63, Brenton Brown, Matt Maher), Britt Edwards (The Swift), John Bertucci (Ike Ndolo), Natalie LaRue (LaRue), Shawn Williams (Martina McBride).
Let Your Light Shine, released in June 2013 set PJ on a course of uncharted writing waters. The album was born from a commitment to write a song per week for 52 weeks. Through this discipline of writing and seeking to find God's beauty and hope in the joy and the pain, PJ stepped into his stride. "Set Me Free" is a prayerful realization that God desires to set our hearts free from our hurt and difficulty while "It Is You" reminds us that Christ is the true desire of our hearts.
Grace Beyond Strength, which was released in June 2012, landed him a spot as an iTunes New & Noteworthy Featured Artist. This album features heart-wrenching songs such as “Lead Me To You” and “Don’t Give Up On Me” as well as foot tappers, “Uncovered” and “Live To Give.” "Grace Beyond Strength" combines the talents of producers Steven Gillis (Filter) and Mark Oliverius (Lorrie Morgan). It also cameos Eric Remschneider on cello (Smashing Pumpkins, Plain White T’s)
