Their previous 3 releases were all voted in the Top 5 ‘Albums of the Year’, in the official music press. In 2015 PANIC ROOM recorded a semi-acoustic album - ‘Essence’ -which was funded by a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign. Their first foray into ‘crowd funding’ proved so popular that the fans helped to smash their original target, and go on to double it! ‘Essence’ is both a retrospective and a brave album - taking older PANIC ROOM songs and reworking them with sparce acoustic arrangements, which exposes the heart and the quality of each track. 2 new songs were also composed for this album. PANIC ROOM are fronted by Anne-Marie Helder - whose stunning voice and spellbinding stage presence have seen her win the title of ‘Best Female Vocalist’ (PROG Magazine) for 2 years running. But this is a band of 5 world-class musicians, who all play an essential role in creating the PANIC ROOM magic. Lead guitarist Dave Foster (with the band since 2015) has brought a fresh energy and power to the band, and is hugely experienced after working for many years with Steve Rothery (Marillion) and leading his own band, Mr So-and-So. Bassist Yatim Halimi also works with Steve Rothery, and is one of the most celebrated and well-loved bass players in the UK. (Winner of ‘Best Bassist’ 2014, CRS Awards). Originally from Singapore, Yatim's CV also includes work with Toto, Simply Red, and Robert Palmer. Drummer Gavin John Griffiths has earned his place as one of the most sought-after players in the UK today. (Winner of ‘Best Drummer’ at the CRS Awards, 2013). His other sessions have included work with Bill Nelson, Fish, and Mostly Autumn. On Keyboards and co-songwriting, Jonathan Edwards is affectionately known as ‘The Maestro’, and his elegant playing is often cited as the ‘unsung hero’ in the unique PANIC ROOM sound. Edwards and Helder are the core songwriting team in the band, but this is very much a collaborative team, with fresh influences coming in from each band member all the time. Their unrivalled pedigree and awesome are clear in every performance; but the band remain fully down-to-earth, joyful and fun in their approach to the music - and their fanbase ‘The Roomies’!
